Piper
My favorite opening for a wedding would be Crown Imperial, but unless you can find a corps that can blow your face off with it you'll probably get stuck with an organist playing the old reliable standby, and we all know what that is. Eddie
Brass arranger for the Jokers D&BC in Japan was married last December. Included in the reception was a full brass ensemble playing an array of drum corps favorites, plus the playing of SCV's 1980 opener when the newly weds entered the hall. One of the best times of my life
nineiron
I went to a wedding for two members of the Boston Crusaders who were married by a priest who was also a former member. The sermon was pretty cool.

My wife & I used Crown Imperial as our Recessional in 1994!!! The organist was kicking & screaming though.. Alden
Brasskitten
It would be pretty baller if you could get a brass choir from PR to do Canon in D (their 2003 arrangement) for a processional. I would love it.
MAV
Modified from a previous post I had a drum corps wedding with a full mass in a Catholic Church. Yeah – it was a geeky theme, but ,darn it, we had a great time and it suited us perfectly. Music included... PROCESSIONAL..............“Ave Maria” – Shubert ..........................“Canon in D” – Pacobel (Phantom) ..........................“Trumpet Voluntary” - Clark PRESENTATION OF GIFTS.....“Ave Maria” – Beibl (Renegades) SIGN OF PEACE.............“Let There Be Peace on Earth” (my high school choir song) COMMUNION.................“Simple Gifts” (Vanguard) CANDLE CEREMONY...........“One Hand/One Heart” – Bernstein (Cadets) RECESSIONAL...............“Ode To Joy” – Beethoven (Boston) FIRST DANCE...............“Let It Be Me” – Everly Brothers (Spirit) We had a brass quintet put together by Chris Nalls which featured some amazing DCA horn players. ORGANIST: John Skilton CANTER: Stefanie Kressaty (currently on tour with support staff) BRASS QUINTET : Joe Pero, Trumpet (just came out with his first solo CD) Travis Gould, Trumpet Chris Nalls, Horn Brian Haslanger, Trombone James Barany, Tuba Here are some ideas that we did as part of our wedding & reception: - The Officiate was Father Jim Murphy...a big drum corps fan! - Our videographer was John Christiansen, whose work you see around the activity (DCI, Blue Devils, etc.) - Our photographer was Sue Johnson, a drum corps photographer, SCV alum & corps mom - The entire wedding party wore marching shoes (hey, they actually look nice and are very comfortable!) - In the reception hall, colorguard flags were hung from the ceiling, drum corps photos were all over the tables - If Vanguard hadn’t had a camp that weekend, we were going to rent Miss Amana for the food. We ended up with a drum corps like spread with Greek food prepared by a Vietnamese family. Scrumptious! And bottles of the affordably delicious two-buck Chuck. - We had people sign a bass drum head instead of a guest book - I totally forgot the garter, so the groom tossed an 8” orange DCI cone - Each little bottle of bubbles had a tag that listed the name of a corps 'love song' and lyrics e.g. "you are the sunshine of my life" – Freelancers, or "I bless the day I found you” – Spirit of Atlanta. - Our wedding invitation had two photos of us performing in drum corps shows. Finally, our wedding gift (handed out at the reception) was a music mix of songs that each had a drum corps story. (I’ll try to dig up the playlist) Mav...now Mrs. Mav-Dempsey
84BDsop
Renting Miss Amana.....that would've been priceless!! Did the guests sit on a curb and eat with the smell of deisel fumes....just for the corps-style ambience?? Instead of a first dance, you should've put the guests through a basics block! Lancerlady
My favorite opening for a wedding would be Crown Imperial, but unless you can find a corps that can blow your face off with it you'll probably get stuck with an organist playing the old reliable standby, and we all know what that is. We have a beautiful version of "Crown Imperial" , classical version, that we used in our wedding if the OP is interested, we found an awesome recording. I came down the aisle to that and we exited (after we said our "I do's) to "Seahawk", Great fanfare song. My guests were escorted in to Eric Clapton's acoustic version of "Danny Boy". Drum corps indeed! There was also a write up about in Drum Corps World. We handed out CD's to our guests of the music with some of our personal favorites as well!
