Played by Larry Hagman) was shot. From that point on, all anyone heard until the show started up again was "Who shot J.R?". Two things: First the spoiler: Kristen Shepard (played by Mary Crosby, daugther of crooner, Bing Crosby) shot J.R., though that is not necessarily an indication of my age.
