The Impressive Tenor Stumble from Early 2000s

Recommended Posts

I remember seeing that fall happen live. EVERYONE in the audience was saying "Get up!" For the fall he had, he made a remarkable recovery.

Magic 2002......i know he backed into one of the bass drums being moved off the field, but i dont remember the tenors going flying, but it was nasty

Hmm, wonder why this show isn't on the Fan Network? Crossmen aren't there either from that year...Copyright stuff?

That was a friend of mine. Yes, it was a great recovery...... No, he still to this day does not like to talk about it, despite of how good the recovery was.

And if you listen closely, you can hear applause at a wierd spot in the show...that's when he got his tenors situated and ran back to his spot.

I always wondered what the rest of the members of the corps thought when they heard the rousing applause in a section of the show that really isn't designed to receive a big reaction. It must been a bit shocking.......but cool of course

 That slap on the face is for me. I was in that show, and in the past 20 years I never noticed that. What should have been picked up was a stick with like a long ribbon on it, kind of like in rhythmic gymnastics. It looked really cool when she had it.

To be honest, I've seen that show many, many times, including live...and I had never noticed it either, until today.

When i first saw the title, I thought you were asking about the incident during 2004 Blue Devils as they were leaving the field.

Haha me too

I know this isn't what you asked for, but in 1995 Cadets had a tenor take a horrible fall.

It was in Columbus, OH, and he tripped over the park bench: fell flat on his face, if I remember correctly. He popped up and there was a tenor feature immediately following it (I believe it was the tenor feature/mello run toward the end of the opener). His fall caused the tenors to come off the j-hooks, and to make the drums look straight/make it a little easier to play the lick he tilted his upper body so the drums looked fine during the feature. I don't remember when he put the drums back on the j-hooks correctly (maybe not until the next tune), but it was one heck of a fall, and an even better recovery!

This is true, but back then the Div 2 champ competed in QF and if they scored right, could continue on to Semis and Finals, which Magic did. The rule was changed thereafter (perhaps the next year).
