Matt_S
This was asked about in a different thread, but for those who like casinos there are two nearby. Indiana Live! is in Shelbyville, and boasts being just 30 minutes from the airport. Hoosier Park is a little further away in Anderson, to the northeast of Indiana, but easy driving distance if you're renting a car.

Anybody traveling from the south that might be interested, Bill Cook was involved in the restoration and opening of the casino in French Lick and it's marvelous West Baden Springs Hotel. http://www.frenchlick.com/
decompressed
If you have the $$$ you must go to St. Elmo's. The steaks are amazing and the shrimp cocktail is their signature dish. You won't be dissappointed in either food or the impeccable service!
stockman365
Don't forget Squealers! Yes, I came back to DCP and post about Squealers and you beat me to it! It is a great local place and their pulled pork is sooooo good! It is a drive from downtown, but is at 86th street and Zionsville Road on the Northwest side. If you go for lunch their specials are very reasonable....like lots of food for about 7 bucks with tip!

There's also a Mooresville location South of Indy for those folks who may be staying in Martinsville. I grew up in Western Kentucky and BBQ is a big part of the culture. As much as it pains me to say it, Squealers is better than the stuff back home.

shawn craig
Thanks to all for the great info! I'll have no problem finding a vodka martini. But what would a summer vacation be without ICECREAM!!! Is there a Maggie Moo's, Coldstone or a really good premium icecream store in the area?
