oldsnare Posted August 8, 2009 Share Posted August 8, 2009 if the overall score between the top two corps were equal then they used a very complicated tie-breaker system that i don't remember the details of...had something to do with caption placements. Even this system didn't completely eliminate the possibility of a tie. I'm almost positive that ties are not broken; they are allowed again. This was one of the rule changes this year. Even this system didn't completely eliminate the possibility of a tie. Tiebreaker 1: they used the ordinals of all the judge's numbers (as in overall placement of each bottom line score). Lower ordinal score won. Tiebreaker 2: If ordinals resulted in a tie, they counted the caption awards to arrive at the winner. If still tied, it stood.
