If you are willing to drive all the way to Columbus for Cap Reg, why not drive an extra 2 hours and go to Glassmen? You may have to practice a little more but you'll probably have a good shot. I made their mello line as a very inexperienced kid right out of high school and ended up marching there for 3 years.

Lebanon, VA to:

Mount Holly, NJ (Jersey Surf): 8 hours

Atlanta, GA (Spirit): 6 hours

Toledo, OH (Glassmen): 8 hours

Thomasville, GA (Teal): 9 hours

Greensboro, NC (Carolina Gold/DCA): 4 hours

Cary, NC (Platinum: new Open Class corps): 4 hours

Google Maps: everyone's friend.

I live in VA Beach myself...and probably the closest options if you were planning on marching Capital Regiment  (i'm going to miss them), then probably Jersey Surf, Gmen, man up and do Forte, or Music City. Cap should be back in 2011 fyi.

Why not go for it! Try out for the Cadets! They have busses going to their camp. Save gas/plane money.

Never doubt your abilities. Be confident and practiced, it can get you far.

Jersey Surf isn't a bad choice, not horribly far, and you can get a great taste of DCI.

Start practicing euph a lot and you could have a good chance of making Crown if you are dedicated enough.

Or, worst case you could make the long drive somewhere else. Believe me I know how much the drive sucks (I drove from Richlands to NJ for two years for Cadets), but it was worth it.
