corps-mudgeon
I like their concert setup, with the contras in front, sitting. I'm sure the players would rather be standing (sitting so people can see behind them), but this setup gives them a chance to be heard over the percussion indoors, for the people who need to hear the recordings. I like the side-by-side setup too, with percussion on one side and all-brass on the other. Again, this gives the brass a chance to make a cohesive sound without trying to overblow the percussion (indoors).Good job, PR, for thinking outside the box, making the best of a horribly bad situation. (can you tell I hate full drum corps indoors?) This is the way they did their encore when I saw it in 2008. Worth the price of admission for the encore alone. NeutralNovice
Wow this show sounds ridiculously amazing. This kind of music is the type I love... there is something about the sound; it is very emotional. It's a shame I won't be seeing them live this year. (Please come back to Stanford ASAP!) The funny thing is that I named my Star Trek Online ships all after Phantom's stuff, even though my favorite corps is Vanguard. :) Light Cruiser: USS Phantom Escort: USS Faust-I Heavy Escort: USS Faust-II Tactical Escort: USS Faust-III Advanced Escort: USS Faust-IV Fleet Escort: USS Astral Phantom Yes, I loved their show "Faust!" (can you tell I hate full drum corps indoors?) That has been the norm for standstills in general since at least 2007. I think it sounds great. But one thing that struck me is that it sounds great even with all of the the reverb inside. Are they composing with LOS in mind or is that just coincidental? I think it would be quite silly of them not to. Worked alright for Vanguard last year.
shostahoosier
Like others I hope they ditch the storyline and characters too. Just give me the brass, percussion, guard and emotion please!

Lincoln
Facebook video is awesome I listened to the "live" videos over and over yesterday........even with the distortion and the over powering sound of the drums during the broadcast yesterday, the music this year is going to be something special. The Facebook video says it all.
Lincoln
http://www.soundtrack.net/albums/database/?id=2640 Thanks to this link, I can confirm the ballad this year is based on track 7 "2,000 A.D." Thanks for posting this.
