perc2100
Guess you weren't...lmao I actually agreed with him, and I was born in the way before 85. Of course, I stick to my original assessment of what a "serious" or "real" drum corps fan is: You are being talked down to by a condescending wind bag who thinks their opinion is the alpha and omega of the activity and all other opinions, arguments, and suggestions are valid ONLY if they conform to them. Reading some of the replies on this thread, my above opinion seems pretty darn valid and is proven a few times Edited March 7, 2010 by perc2100

boxingfred
or at least they would have, had there been any actual marching in their show. Blue Devils marched more in 1988 than they did in 2010. Loved the Grey uniforms, loved the 88 show.

SKEKer47
I've referred to some folks as members before but it had nothing to do with drum corps.

SKEKer47
They use these two words over and over:1. Member (not kid, not trumpet player) and 2. Activity (not marching, not competing) You? I was way off!!! I thought that typical DCI quotes would be: Has anyone seen my clarinet reed? I know that I can play cello in drum corps; I saw Woody Allen do it in a marching band. You expect me to play the instrument AND carry it? We're losing the mid-range. Have the sound engineer boost the mellos a bit. What in the f*#k is a G horn? No problem sending another check so that the staff can winter-over in Florida! Gosh, next to the cost of sending me to the Conservatory & winter camp, it's a drop in the bucket. I will have to check with my private music teacher to make sure that there aren't any conflicts, date-wise. I've heard that back in the Dark Ages they actually took kids from the inner-cities (i.e., non-musicians) and tried to teach them how to play an instrument. Yeah! I know!!! Are you thinking monkeys and typewriters, too?
BRASSO
You know that you are talking to a serious Drum Corps fan when they automatically know that nobody ever referred to those that marched in the New York Skyliners Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps in the 60's and 70's...... as " geeks ". ( neither inside nor outside of Drum Corps ) Edited March 8, 2010 by BRASSO
