wallace
John Mackey is a terrible composer. Totally disagree. It's a lovely work and a joy to listen to.
amadorj
That's the laziest rebuttal ever. I haven't heard anything that you've composed, superior or otherwise, so should I write you off when you saw you like the music? Because the quarterback analogy has already been made, I'll play along. I've only ever played catch with a football. I've played some QB in pick-up games, but I've never quarterbacked for an organized team in my life. I can still tell you quite convincingly that Ryan Leaf was a terrible NFL quarterback. Yeah - and John Mackey was a great tight end!
brassmeaway
4 freaking pages of this thread, and not a single answer to my question--and no, an answer of "nobody" doesn't count. All because one ignorant person decided to vomit on the thread for no useful reason.

All because one ignorant person decided to vomit on the thread for no useful reason. Actually, 'nobody' is a valid answer. The question was "Who does this suit on the field?" Nobody implies that "no, this piece does not suit any corps," which is actually a completely valid answer, whether you say it is or not. So, I guess that means that that one "ignorant" person was actually the only person to contribute to this thread so far, no? Glad I could help! The question was which corps does it suit. Meaning--stay with me here--that you pick a corps, or you don't say anything. PRETTY SIMPLE! Regardless whether you like it or not, there are sections of this piece that fall within the general style of some corps. You can continue on with your smart-### "kill with kindness" routine, or you can just go to bed and try waking up on the correct side of the bed tomorrow. And maybe try not peeing in someone's cheerios for the ENTIRE day.

Gerald
Recently I heard a 140-member all-state band attempt his Asphalt Cocktail, and the results were a near-disaster. Thus, this aural experiences lends itself to make me think his music would not work with a large outdoor ensemble. zachariaswmb
[snip]He is always flying off all over the country working his music. Aurora Awakes, Asphalt Cocktail (and by the way I think use of the word "cocktail" in a school band piece is questionable),[/snip] Haha, if you think that's questionable, then you should check out what the phrase "asphalt cocktail" actually implies. Google it, and be amazed! Edited April 2, 2010 by zachariaswmb
