bobchilds
For the last few years, BD has tended to feature a snippet of one tune from its past: 2007 Pegasus (1980 and 1982) 2009 Happy Days Are Here Again (1988) 2010 La Suerte De Los Tontos (or, as Dan Potter calls it, "Las Suertos") (1979, 1980, 1992) Which one would you like to hear in 2011, even if for just a bit? If it's just for a bit ... then nothing. I'd rather hear them take an old chart and take it to the next level like they did with La Suerte in 1992. NAIL IT TO THE WALL and remind us of how bad### your horn lines can truly be. If this were the case: Goodbye Yesterday Cuban Fire Suite La Fiesta Any of the above ... in full blown, full length, full depth old school Downey arranging style. It's sad, but those just aren't the types of shows that are designed or rewarded anymore.
HOOKEDBYLEGEND78
T.O. Any of the 1985 show prior to First Circle. Legend of the One-Eyed Sailor. My Heart Belongs to Me. Everybody Loves the Blues. Bacchanalia. Longer than snippets would be preferable, please.
skajerk
If it had the same punch as the "old" Blue Devils... Everybody Loves the Blues or La Fiesta
AnnouncerMonkey
2010 La Suerte De Los Tontos (or, as Dan Potter calls it, "Las Suertos") (1979, 1980, 1992) Ouch. Thanks for the reality slap Bob. I really need to take some spanish. Dan
FHdork
Yep - it's not going to happen. Unfortunately, the world of drum corps has moved on from jazz...at least for now. Yes - all you honks - BD played Graetinger (Kenton) last year - I know - but it sure didn't sound like much jazz I used to listen to or enjoy. FWIW - I found the '10 BD show incredible...you lost me mostly, but it was totally beyond captivating...

How about using a snippet from the 2010 show, and see if anyone notices?
