chaos001
the holdridge is beautiful. my goodness. the blend of confutatis from the mozart with the holdridge...just wonderful writing. wow. I'm not a Mozart fan, but I'm loving that arrangement. Maybe old Amadeus just needed an 80 man horn line?!?
RickT
Dear PR, Please take out the very very very lame electronic drum kit from the Lacrimosa. That piece is beautiful and it's being played well. The kit ruins it. Thank you, A fan

I...... prefer..... this....... battery writing........ to...... rennicks! I will wait until later in the season to make such a bold statement....

Gwaltney's writing is definitely more aggressive.
stockman365
I introduced a drum corps newby to this recording and got an "Ooooo, I like this :)" response...mission accomplished!
Scottishfan
WOW!!! That is wonderful. From what I hear about BD and the programmes that Cadets and others are doing, I wouldn't want to predict anything positionwise, but on an "art for art's sake" tip I think Regiment will be getting a lot of standing o's this season. Lincoln
That East of Eden is as beautifully written as I had hoped. There is a depth in the lower brass that has been missing for a while. Percussion is kicking yet doesn't compete with the brass for attention to the point where you can't enjoy the ensemble. Wonderful! To quote Mark Twain with a twist - "The rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated."
chaos001
I agree. I feel that it's been missing since '06. That East of Eden is as beautifully written as I had hoped. charlie1223
I greatly enjoyed their opener! East of Eden is probably my favorite part of this show! I cant imagine why people can still believe that phantom won't be a contender this year after hearing that! Very musical, very noble, very phantom! And thats a dangerous combination... for the other corps... ;) No doubt from me that the percussion will be great and strong! No worries there! jthomas666
I'll echo the sentiment that the techno-funk drums need to go, but everything else? Sweet mother of God, that was impressive. Absolutely love the low brass presence--it just reaches out and grabs you where you live. Sadly, the closest they're coming to Birmingham is Atlanta, and that just ain't happening.
