chaos001
It's a joke, Mr. Cawthorne. Great work so far this season. Keep them coming!
Lincoln
I accept that no matter what the uniforms look like, some people are not going to be happy. But to claim that it will drop Phantom's overall score a couple of places BECAUSE OF the 'ugly' uniform? I strongly doubt it. Total white 'melts' under stadium lights. The individual becomes a blob. The black accents of the new uniform enhances the visual, not detracts. What I think most people dislike is the theme sewn into the uniform - the crest and the contrast of white to black. The plume.....well, we will see this weekend.....won't we! I liked the uniform when pictures were first released. I like it even more now. The black accents and plume look really sharp and the one feature that I wasn't sure about, the triangle, works a lot more than I thought it would. The guard is beautiful! On Robert C's video, there is a brief glimpse of some flag work and already the ensemble looks a lot tighter than last year.
CHRISP
A good point well made. DCI history is full of incidents when ugly uniforms have placed corps a couple of spots lower than they would have been if they'd had nice pretty uniforms. The most famous incident would be the 1986 27th Lancers, everyone knows they would have made finals that year if not for the pink tops... We wore red tops in 86 (85 too). Star wore pink tops. 3rd Glasgow BB
We wore red tops in 86 (85 too). Star wore pink tops. I stand corrected. I have a friend who marched with 27th that year and we used to tease him about the pink tops, perhaps we were just using poetic licence. You need to make sure you introduce yourself if you're ever at a show, I'd like to meet my only DCP "fan."

I would also reference the Freelancer's Shirlee Whitcomb costume debacle. The guard uni was modeled after Coke cans. This uniform is going to hurt Regiment...They had a unique look that was almost infinitely adaptable, but still defined them. This is total fail.

Adding a single element and changing some colors constitutes a "total fail?"

This is total fail. this post is 'a total fail'. the uniform is not going to hurt the corps. If anything it will make them look more defined (less like a giant white blob). I'm not sold on the black plume, but it's really not that big of a deal. Edited June 16, 2011 by general_tsos_chicken2
