ohbaby
I am curious how many stadiums that have been used for Finals are no longer standing. My guess would be around 5.

Hrothgar15
I can see one of them out my window in Philly...virtually unchanged from how it looks on the DVDs!

Interesting, I would have thought a ton from the 1970s would be gone.
smj02
Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca has undergone some renovations since the 70s, but it doesn't look all that different today from the grainy '74 finals videos on the Fan Network. The turf field has been replaced a few times since then, the track is now rubber instead of asphalt, the back grandstand has been completely replaced, backed by a newer, much larger press box in 1986, and the main, west-facing grandstand remains much as it was then, albeit with newer aluminum bench seating. Additionally, the building to the north end of the stadium, Schoellkopf House, which houses the locker rooms and some coaches' offices for Cornell U. athletic teams, has recently been refurbished. Assuming the restroom and dining facilities were no better in '74 than today, I have a hard time imagining the place holding a full grandstand of fans for a long day of prelims or even a shorter evening of finals. The only time it's ever full nowadays (or even close to being full) is for the Cornell commencement ceremonies...and then it's only full for a short morning ceremony before folks branch off for more intimate departmental ceremonies. Anyone who attended the early finals, I'd love to hear what it was like cramming these old buildings (Schoellkopf was built in 1915! And Franklin Field around the same time period, I believe) and watching drum corps in them.
