YOUR DCI Essentials Collection

Recommended Posts

Those of us who were at the Cinema event a few weeks ago heard about a new Blu-ray release that DCI is putting out called the DCI Essentials Collection: Champions. It has 13 Championship Winning shows on it, all remastered in High Def. Here's the description from the new DCI Store:

Drum Corps International presents the all new Essentials Collection- Champions Blu-ray disc. See and hear legendary performances like never before with all new audio remastering to 5.1 surround from the original stereo recordings and video up-conversions to High Definition. This exciting new collection utilizes cutting edge technology to create the definitive highest quality possible from the original source materials.

DTS HD Master Audio Lossless 5.1

AVC@26 MBPS

Original television aspect ratio preserved

Featuring:

1973 Santa Clara Vanguard (previously unavailable performance from historic Warhawk Stadium in Whitewater, Wisconsin.)

1975 Madison Scouts

1984 Garfield Cadets

1986 Blue Devils

1989 Santa Clara Vanguard

1991 Star of Indiana

1994 Blue Devils

1996 Phantom Regiment

1999 Blue Devils

2000 The Cavaliers

2005 The Cadets

2006 The Cavaliers

2007 Blue Devils

Product is scheduled for shipment in late July, 2012.

I started another thread to see what the DCP Community would want on the Champions Disc. But, I thought it would also be fun to see what NON-Championship Winning shows we would want if they were to do a set of Non-Championship winning shows.

So, since the original has 13, let's keep this down to 13 as well. Here are the 13 Champions I would've put on the discs in chronological order:

1. Bridgemen 1980

2. Phantom Regiment 1984

3. Madison Scouts 1985

4. Phantom Regiment 1989

5. Phantom Regiment 1991

6. Star of Indiana 1993

7. Madison Scouts 1995

8. Madison Scouts 1997

9. Blue Devils 2000

10. Santa Clara Vanguard 2001

11. Santa Clara Vanguard 2009

12. Carolina Crown 2009

13. Carolina Crown 2011

[edit: hold on. Mistook non-champion for non-finalist]

I haven't been involved in DCI all that long so I really can't list 13, but on my short list (just off the top of my head) would be 2009 Crown (already on several lists abvoe) and 2011 Madison Scouts.

You should look into The Fan Network. There have been some fantastic non-champion shows through the years that you can watch from the vault
