DCI-86
That guy is totally killing it! Yes he is - as is the baritone soloist in Blue Stars and the Mellophone soloist in SCV!
HiddenMonster
Everyone's too busy talking about how BD's show design is supposedly like the worst thing to happen to drum corps to notice their talent. Their soloists are awesome! Edited July 21, 2013 by HiddenMonster

rayfallon
Yes he is - as is the baritone soloist in Blue Stars and the Mellophone soloist in SCV! Oh man I like that Blue Star baritone... and for all of you (us) amplification haters - the miked sound is the cherry on that sundae! Kid must play a hell of a jazz trombone... (yes, I'm jealous)
Popular Post BeerMan
I didn't notice the quality of his solo, because I was too busy wondering why such talented musicians can't seem to play a solo without a microphone jammed in their bells. How long until BD (or others) just start putting a cordless microphones in the bells of the entire horn line? Then there's no need for 70 brass. Maybe they'll just have 20 amped brass, and add another 50 dancers. When they want to be loud, they can just have a staff member turn up the volume on the old mixing board. I'll give the Flugelhorn player respect when they take away the mic. Ok, my mini-rant is over. BeerMan

HiddenMonster
Get over the mics, seriously. He has a great tone and plays the solo flawlessly. That's what we're talking about.
