Fred Windish
Watching Blue Devils, I get the impression 10,000 kids showed up to audition, and it all came down to this. WOW!

jasgre2000
To my somewhat trained eye/ear, I think BD beats Bluecoats by AT LEAST 1.5 tonight. They're whole program is being performed at such a high level for July 8. Honestly, I haven't been a fan of what BD has done in the last several year. I've appreciated their talent but not their shows. This one captures me much more and is extremely well executed. I'll tell ya, Cadets and Crown (along with Bloo) have their work cut out for them if they want to beat BD this year. After seeing BD and Bloo together, BD is definitely better right now. I find this really interesting. I really like this year's BD show, but I honestly liked their dada show and the re-rite of spring better. Not a BD homer, and I don't think they have ever had my favorite show in any given year, but I really like what they did in those shows. I know that is not a popular opinion. What is it about this year's BD show do you like better? Is it that it is less atonal/dissonant? Is it that there are more complete melodic phrasing? I admit my tastes are probably more esoteric than mosts. There are moments in this Fellini show that I love, but there are other segments I find a bit stale/boring. Interesting how different people have different tastes. I'm just glad that there is as much variety in DCI as there is.
PSUBlueBandSax2011
Well-said... I agree. Not a knock at all on the other corps, who are wonderful. But BD seems to be playing in a different ballpark than any other corps. And for me, their show this year is easier to follow without having a doctorate in something. Ha! I'll have to try "Through a Glass, Darkly" and "Cabaret Voltaire" again. Totally un-enthralled when I saw those live some years ago. Great talent in BD and cutting edge stuff. Just nothing that ever really grabbed me.
BRASSO
What would a BD show be without the use of chairs in their show ? All kidding aside though, this is Wayne Downey's most pleasing BD brass arranging in a long time, imo. BD did have some visual execution issues that were quite visible tonite however ( the company front near the end had snake like issues, for example ), so we'll see how the 2 Blues in the WC segment did in their first match up this season. ' Hope to see the Blues from Canton within 1.3 or so of the Blues from Concord.
loopin' froot loops
I can't decide if the snare feature in BDs show is supposed to be a board meeting or a strip club... Well considering the guard is unzipped for the girls to purposefully show off their hot pink bras there....

jasgre2000
such an amazing film. pretty much anything from fellini is great thoughIt was my first Fellini film. I've heard he gets a bit more esoteric in his later work. I am pretty excited about that actually. As I mentioned above, my tastes are probably a bit more esoteric than most. Re-write took me about 3 viewing to 'get' but it has turned out to be one of my favorites from 2013. And I'm a SCV fan. George Dixon
BD is awesome. I'm not so sure they'll go undefeated though.
