Drums of Summer - Tulsa for Broken Arrow OK

Recommended Posts

That Broken Arrow show is the epitome of what a high school show can be. Absolutely insane, that brass section in my opinion and many others is the best one ever for a high school. And that guard was incredible, their field presence during simple gifts left me a bit.......light headed.

Back to DCI, cannot wait to see how Cascades stack up against Surf, Caacades show is far better of a design, but I don't know about performance levs.

I'll agree on the brass/woodwinds, but as far as the guard, nope. They were technically proficient, but lacked in crowd connection and other performance qualities. Equipment work reminded me of stuff from HS in the 90's.

I guess to my un-trained Eye I was pretty impressed.

I keep hoping Spirit can make some improvements soon. Camp was practically rained out the entire time. Then the first 8 shows and housing sites were plagued with rain. And the rain kept them off the practice field so many other times as well. Not making excuses for them and I know other Corps had to deal with that as well but they are perhaps a week behind everyone else because of that reason. It is hard to make strides when you have to stay indoors half of the time. Stuck on 74ish for a while now. So before anyone asks me if I want some Cheese with my Whine......I know this isn't the strongest of shows for Spirit. But, come on - mother nature needs to at least give them an opportunity to improve.
