What is the statiscal probability of a tie happening? You realize that they put a rule in several years ago to prevent ties...that rule has since been removed...BUT I don't think anyone wants to see any ties...besides the judges can now change their numbers before the end of the show... Today, the tie breaker between 2 Corps for first place at Finals is determined by both Corps Directors of both Corps gathering at midfield, given a microphone and given 15 minutes to verbally convince the judges up in the booth as to why their Corps should be declared the Champion over the other. Judges are instructed to judge the Director's performance before them in such aspects as... Narration Quality, Electronics Useage, Voice, Emotional Tug, General Effect Visual.... 20 point allotments, per caption are assigned under the new tie breaker rules for Finals. Is the ordinal system for breaking 1st place ties still in place? No, they repealed it after 2008. If two corps tie at finals, they both earn that placement.
