TroopAlum12
Here we go, the first look at the Cadets 2016 production "Stoned." GH's comments on the video: "First time through the beginning of the program Little long - the right idea The material gives us the time to introduce the program , the guard and the brass ensemble Nice work cadets as we get started down the road to fame and fortune" Enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/george.hopkins.yea/videos/10153290087551911/ Edited December 13, 2015 by TroopAlum12

TroopAlum12
Already been posted on The Cadets thread. Truthfully, I don't read a lot of the individual corps threads. So many posts to sort through every time I can't keep up. Edited December 13, 2015 by TroopAlum12

Name
The beginning is great. The end is great. I can see why Hopkins mentioned that fact that it's a little long. It will obviously be changed over the next 6 months, but I'm loving what I'm hearing. I enjoy this sort of music a lot more than the Shostakovich from last year. I'm definitely intrigued.

I agree on all this. The arrangement is too long, but clearly they already know that. Seeing what works in a "full" arrangement and then cutting what doesn't has always been a Cadet MO I also agree the music is "intriguing" - draws you in much better than the counting preamble of last year which should have been cut early season. Shocked they didn't. I also agree this style of music draws you in more than the Shostakovich tends too. But that's just a taste thing I guess? It draws me in more than last year. It reminds me a bit of 2013 which was wonderful to listen to. Hearing the recording I feel like I'm hearing Resphigi. I appreciate everything up to the ending because it's just so grand and my heart starts racing. The ending is good, but it's not Resphigi and the first couple of minutes are just so perfect.
drumcorpsfever
Pines of Rome is not only an awesome piece musically, it lends itself well to the visual aspect of the show. Visual, as we all know, is a HUGE factor in the DCI scoring system. This one has been done before. But hey, who cares!
drumcorpsfever
BTW - we've spiced up the off-season with a couple of provocative show titles: Judas (Scouts); Stoned (Cadets).
