Florida Shows

Recommended Posts

You can't tell where the shows will be, but you can tell (from the other scheduled shows) who won't be travelling to Florida. (Barring changes).

I just checked the weather report for these 3 DCI Florida shows this summer, and lo and behold , AccuWeather already has the weather report posted... and for all 3 summer shows. Amazing. Anyway, the weather report is identical for all 3 shows at different locations/ dates. Here it is :

" Partly Cloudy, Hot & Humid. Temperatures between 94-98. Dew Point 81. Heat Index 119. 80% chance of showers, Thunderstorms possible late. "

So there it is. If you are intending to go, be sure to bring along plenty of water, salt tablets, and an umbrella, and you should be just fine.

Those would be climatological values, not an actual forecast.

Yes... perhaps I should have put it in one of the Prediction threads instead too.

DCI is/was trying to get the South Florida show at FAU but last I heard there was an issue with the soccer coach.

Also John, Tampa ISN'T really considered part of South Florida........ :tounge2:

It is if you live in the Bay Area. It isn't if you live in Miami. of course, Tampa Bay folks consider Miami to be North Cuba, so...

, Tampa Bay folks consider Miami to be North Cuba,

And North Cuban folks consider Miami to be Latin America. Its all just one's personal perspective and personal geographical compass here at play.., thats all.

Just FYI.. I saw this as a recent update for Florida shows... from dci.org....

After a four-year absence, the Drum Corps International Tour will return to Florida in 2016 for an unprecedented three-event series kicking off on Saturday, July 9.

With growing anticipation since the release of the DCI Tour schedule in November, DCI is pleased to announce that locations and venues for the three Florida events – taking place in Lakeland, Jupiter and Daytona Beach – have all been confirmed.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to bring the excitement of the Drum Corps International Tour back to the Sunshine State,” DCI Executive Director and CEO Dan Acheson said. “With a long history of DCI Tour events and a huge population of drum corps performers, alumni, fans and students engaged in the marching arts in the state of Florida, we’re really looking forward to reacquainting ourselves with this highly enthusiastic region of the country this summer and into the future.”

The Florida series will kick off on Saturday, July 9, when the Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Cadets, Crossmen, Heat Wave, Jersey Surf, Legends and Spirit of Atlanta take the field at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, which sits about 35 miles east of Tampa.

The action heads southeast two days later as that same lineup of corps makes its way to Palm Beach County for a round of competition at Jupiter High School, a facility that was recently renovated with the installation of artificial turf in 2014.

Following Jupiter, corps will have a 180-mile drive ahead of them as they travel up the state’s Atlantic coast for one final competition on Tuesday, July 12, in Daytona Beach. The event, which is also expected to be webcast via the DCI Live!streaming video subscription service, will take place at Municipal Stadium which is home to the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcat football team.

Tickets for the Lakeland and Jupiter events are scheduled to go on sale through the DCI Box Office beginning Monday, March 21, at noon, 12 p.m. ET. Tickets for Daytona Beach may go on sale shortly after that date.

Have to say Bolles school has a GREAT stadium! Drive by there a lot and think that this would be an excellent place for a competition.
