Did Crown use the parking lot for practice? ;)

Haha. Very clever of you to spot this. And I've no idea what these lines, or Crown's lines mean.

Cavaliers had a great run tonight. They've really tightened everything up and are firing on all cylinders. Crowd ate it up. Earlier in the season the hornline was a weak point but they're sounding much cleaner. Guard still has some breaks which they will need to eliminate if they want to challenge for best guard.

Now, don't hate me, but here's a bad thing. The micing of the full corps is not good. This is the 4th time I've seen them live and it's never been this noticeable, but tonight it was far too loud. The sound coming out of the speakers was harsh and piercing at times and impossible to  balance, since whichever voices happened to be closest came out loudest. Maybe it was because of my seat location but I found it very unpleasant and detracted from both the horn sound and the overall show. Sorry, not hating, just recounting my experience.

Still, Cavies win with a huge score!

As great a thrill as it was to hear, there was definitely something artificial about it. The loudness, that is.

I'm still gobsmacked by The Cavaliers' brass line.  That's the best I've heard my corps play in a decade.  It was focused, energetic, and very loud.  Oh yes.

Right before I left you suggested 91.5 or maybe breaking 92. Pretty good projections, it turns out. Good ears and eyes!

It was a great night for Stars. 1.6 pt jump in one night!

They were definitely better tonight than they were at Dublin.

Tonight was my first time seeing them live, and my first time seeing the whole show. To me it sounded like Cavaliers, at a few times during the show, achieved that loudness by having the entire hornline's sound picked up by those sideline microphones. It really sounded like some of the power was coming form the speakers.

Which, if I was indeed hearing correctly, leaves me with mixed feelings. (On the upside: better amplified brass than synthesizer.)

Nice to meet you, by the way, however briefly!

I drove down from Cleveland because my sister and nephew, who live in the adjacent suburb of Bellbrook, accepted my offer to attend, making this their first time seeing a drum corps show. Because I had more than three hours' drive back, we didn't stay for encore or scores. But as we left, I told them that I expected:

(1) Cavaliers' score would be about 92; and

(2) Mandarins would earn at least 82, which would be their best showing ever. (I hadn't seen their Charleston score from the night before, and didn't realize they'd already set a new corps record.)

Yay!

Congrats to Oregon on beating Pacific Crest tonight!

Huh. For some reason I had it in my head that this had happened the previous night in Dublin. But no. Good, because I like PC's show more (and felt that way both nights), but OC's is more difficult, and it read much better tonight in Centerville than it did the night before.

Met DCP folks @ThirdValvesAreForWimps and @FLBuzcut tonight. John and Jim. Good guys who, if I recall, also are helpful posters.

Loooong INT is about over!

It was one minute too short for me. Long lines at concessions, and despite having been told by the announcer that the next corps started at 9:05, the show staff stopped people from entering the stands at 9:02. So I got to watch Colts' performance, not to mention three minutes of nothing before Colts' performance, from the tunnel.

Colts had a loud ending tonight in Centerville. Didn't they have a soft ending the previous night in Dublin? I remember turning to garfield and telling him that one of the corps would have a better show if they cut the soft ending. Was that Colts?
