shombell
We at Cadence are stoked to have such a healthy A Class. It does mean making finals is harder as only four go through but the experience for the kids will be enough. I just hope people get in their seats early to see the A Class prelims. Out of interest what are the crowds like for A Class prelims at DCA? paul

I swear, I had never heard of a particular corps until they showed up for the "new entries" position draw, the day before championships. "OK... whoever they are, they're in!!!" LOL Les Ambassadeurs in 1977. Les Metro in 1992. 1981 Niagra Regionaires. Just come on down from Canada, do a solid gig at prelims, make finals. Heard stories though that the Regionaires, once they made finals really let themselves go wild. Dropped from like a 64 to a 54 at Finals. The Locals will show and they'll be supportive. Willamsport's rather unique in how they deeply appreciate and respect instrumental music of all sorts. Regardless of audience size, DCA Audiences will give it up for an honest effort. The Grognards in the crowd will make sure of it.

When people talk about it, the word "deluge" is frequently used.

They made the night show, tied with MBI for the last finalist spot... then in 1992 made that big jump to 5th. But you're right... all those corps... outta nowhere. I can add Les Cascadeurs in '84 to that list. "Who ARE these guys????" LOL. They made a bit of DCA, maybe drum corps, history in '84 by amping their front ensemble. First time I can recall any corps doing that. Took a 2-point penalty for the then-banned electronics, and still were a solid finalist. They had the amps plus their snares and tenors were mounted as one unit...had to weigh a ton, but what a cool drum solo!
