RebelGTP
Allow me to also chime in here that even though I am not a musician in practice, I appreciate music that moves me. Music that does this comes from all of the music genres that I have listened to and that doesn't really omit any of them! This is why I naturally gravitated towards Phantom Regiment when I moved to Rockford and discovered/rediscovered Drum Corps with Phantom at the core of my Drum Corps world. I can go back many years and immediately enjoy pieces used in previous year shows even though I may not know much about them or their composers. The list of my favorites include Rollerball, The 1812 Overture, and since I had heard it played live for my first time hearing it: Elsa's. Phantom's music always moves me but I also appreciate good music played by other corps and will often go buy a shirt from a corps if I enjoyed their show (so glad I don't have to explain why there is a picture of me out there wearing an XtraordinarY shirt now...). As to seeing many of you getting excited about this year's repertoire here in this thread, I feel that I will not be disappointed with the music, as if that can ever happen. It's looking to be that I will have several chances to hear the show over the summer as I prepare to likely return to the souvie/merch driver position for this year.

Safe travels this summer RebelGTP. I did Regiment souvies for several summers. Long hours but it was worth it to meet all sorts of drum corps fans. Great people!

I too have done them before but it looks like an opportunity to drive a member coach again just wouldn't present itself this year... So, why not go back to another of my loves? I didn't choose the Souvie Life, the Souvie Life chose me.

I do remember seeing in the Rockford Register-Star after the world finals win in '08 and saying to myself "Good for them! They deserved it!" while knowing some of the story surrounding 1996. Years later, Rick Valenzuela asked me in an aside: "Where were you in 2008, Todd?" All I could say is: "I don't really remember, but I don't think I was very happy..." Decades of hard work went into them.

I felt a bit of what I feel those victories felt like in 2011 on finals night. Even though that show placed 5th on finals night, the raw emotion that was displayed in the performance that night made it first in the fans hearts... I'll certainly never forget it...

I noticed the absence of a lot of shows that Phantom regularly performed at in the past, and either they do not hold the show there anymore or the corps itself is not going. This list includes Minneapolis/Rochester, Lafayette (LA at Cajun Field - corps hasn't been here for many years), Houston like you mentioned, Meadowlands in NJ, Rock Hill/Charlotte, and I am a bit surprised that the WV show has been moved to Huntington... Overall, the schedule just doesn't feel as full as it did in the past and the big surprise in my eyes is that Lawrence, MA show... I mean, the corps has been in New England before but for more than just one show and swinging back into PA like this year... One strange point to my personal travels is that the corps is going to Hattiesburg, a place that I personally haven't been to in over 11 years. The corps was there in 2013 in the months after the tornado but I wasn't on tour for that show... I want to see how the university/town have recovered from the twister... Either way, I'll feel fulfilled with the season beyond seeing the show as long as I can get a burger at Whataburger and/or In-N-Out, some hot chicken in Murfreesboro, and to stop in at a Buc-ee's either in Texas or one of the other states they've expanded to prior to them building the planned store near Madison, WI...
