FloMarching: Video Quality Question

Recommended Posts

Luckily, I have not had any of these issues. I have gigabit fiber internet with great speeds but then again, I’ve also streamed from my cellular data and that was fine too. I usually watch on my Apple TV app though.

What I do find annoying is that, yes, although things seem reliable overall on Flo, they still haven’t gotten the audio balances right. The FE is often louder than the brass ensemble and since FEs are using stereo output, those don’t seem to be captured equally either. This is why I still prefer the smartphone recordings as it’s a more accurate representation of the live sound. Flo has a tendency to make every corps sound tiny. They need an ambient mic to pick up the natural reverb of the venue to create a larger soundstage.

I used to be an audio engineer for concerts so that is why I’m more bothered by the audio than the multicam.

I notice the pulse every time Boston is standing still in their opening set before the show starts.

It seems counterintuitive to me because I would think compression should be easiest when the pixels aren’t changing so that is not a time I would expect the stream to be too much to keep up with.

Unless you have access to some secret FloMarching high res version…you have the issue too…you just don’t notice it.  It has nothing to do with your Internet speed…it is how Flo compresses the video.

I was noticing way more compression in multi than I have all season.  The high cam flicker has been there all season too.

I believe I was the one saying to force 1080.  It helps with 'some' of it but yeah its' still there.
