bstar82
My favorite arrangements and/or shows: 10. Geneseo Knights, 1981, Eleanor Rigby 9. Freelancers, 1983, Breaking up is hard to do 8. Sky Ryders, 1983, La Virgin de la Macarena 7. Velvet Knights, 1989, Yo Mambo 6. Madison, 1998, Rememberance 5. Blue Devils, 1983, One more time Chuck Corea 4. Velvet Knights, 1985, Final Analysis 3. Madison, 1979, The Sorcerer and the Latin 2b. Madison, 1982, Strawberry Soup 2a. Crossmen, 2002, Strawberry Soup 1. Phantom Regiment, 1981 & 1982, Spartacus At the time, I truly could see where drum corps was headed with Phantom's themed show. Such a powerful and dark selection of music and the guard telling so much of the story. Does anybody still have the libretto they handed out before each show? I have five in mint condition. Bob Brady
I must correct myself re: my post previous. The Osage Precisionnaires played Evil Ways and Still a Young Man in their '76 show, not '75 as I stated. But '75 did have Saeta by Miles Davis and Chick Corea's version of Spain. The combined books of '75 and '76 were sweet, though the perfomance level of '75 was much superior.Boom <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 76 was a little rougher because the corps left for 2nd tour with about 25 horns and marched a full corps at DCI.They picked people up all along the way. I joined when they hit Toledo for "Key To The Sea" after the Glassmen had folded earlier that summer. What a trip! I was a soprano player carrying Contra for Osage! Had a blast with those guys though. It was a case of"If they only had one more week in the season, they would have made finals" Good show-just not enough time to clean it with so many new people every day! :)
bawker
Glassmen 1994: Whole show really, but especially "Nights in White Satin". Show doesn't get near enough credit. :)
skajerk
DOH! Can't believe I left Freelancer's Breaking Up Is Hard To Do off my list!

Matt_S
You reminded me of another lesser-known SCV chart that I really enjoy, that being New Era Dance from 2001. :)
Joe Bananas
What's your favorite drum corps tune that rarely, if ever, gets talked about? I've noticed that there are a handful of charts that get mentioned all the time, while a lot of great stuff sort of passes under the radar. Sometimes they're even in the same show as a tune that's frequently brought up as one of the all-time greats. Other times, they were part of more obscure shows. So what chart do you secretly love that has frequently been lost in the shuffle? Mine is "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" (Cavaliers '86 & '87). Honorable mention goes to "Concerto for Guitar & Jazz Orchestra" (Madison '88). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1983 - 84 Boston Crusaders arrangement of "Billie Jean". The nice drum major, whose name escapes me played a solo.
