ffernbus3
http://mellom007.tripod.com/Scrapbook2001/scrapbook.html Look on Munson Chan's Scrapbook of California Drum Corps for more all girls corps in Cali. We also had a Capitalaires All Girls corps out of Sacramento (pics on Munson's site). Dr. Ralph Orlandella, former DCN/DCW scribe and Stockton Caballero and Renegade (among other NorCal corps) married a gal from Capitalaires. I think, and here the memory is really hazy, that the legendary Blue Devil soloist Bonnie Ott played in The Capitalaires and that I met her at a standstill gig early in 1972. Again, don't take this as gospel that it was her.....but I DID meet some girl from Capitalaires that night and had a great musical conversation with her after their performance....might have been Bonnie and I apologize for not remembering. RON HOUSLEY I remember most of it, though! Edited October 27, 2004 by ffernbus3

lp1955
The Bon Bons were the best when I marched. I think the were one of the top corps in the country back in the 50's. The beat many of the big boys in those years. Edited October 27, 2004 by lp1955
Walter
I used to hate getting beat by "A GIRLS CORPS"!!!! (Ladies it's a guy thing, you know bruised ego and all that) Ventures used to beat us most of the time. Boy they were great, I managed to make friends with a few of them anyway!!! jimdugan
My sister marched briefly with the ND-Ettes from CT. They won all girl World Open way back when. They had a great snare drummer named Cherokee who used to kick guys butts in individuals.
KeithHall
I do give two thumbs up to St. John'r Girls for skipping off the field with timpani's strapped to their chests! What tune was that they played?

Most of their instructors were also members/instructors of the Connecticut Hurricanes. Joe Genero, Ray Ludee the team of "Condon & Woods" on 'M & M" and Tony DeFrancisco. Many of the "Girls" of that generation are now all grown up (and "Grandmothers" to boot) and are still marching, with the 'Park City Pride" Alumni corps of Bridgeport Ct.
