Walter
heh, I remember Glenwood Springs, I believe we stayed at the show site in '76, I can remember breaking our pre-show run-throughs, on our way back to the gym, some of the "big boys" had showed up at the school. As the corps walked toward the gym, the horn line suddenly stopped, and proceded to form an arc in the east endzone, I really think Wayne (Downey) wanted to show off "his" line to the "big boys", so uncharacteristically, he instructed the line to play the first movement of Channel One.If I remember correctly, it was Madison who had filtered toward the horn line, and the horn line put on a "performance' that to this day gives me chills when I think about intense it was. When the line hit the first blast, I can remember stopping in my tracks (along with the rest of the drum line) and taking in what was going down at that moment, as it demanded attention, it was truly something special. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That gives the chills just reading that!!! I can imagine how you felt BDL!!!
sburstall
I have a lot of strange memories of my junior days.. My first time seeing lesbians. Not kidding. Saw two women coming out of a field holding hands and everyone on the bus pointing at them. I remember sleeping on a lot of ice rinks (sans ice). I remember have a bit of sun poisoning before the Key to the Sea show. I slept for a bit after eating then joined up with the horn arc. Mike West gave me a thumbs up for getting back into the arc even when I sick. Loved that guy. I still love the US Open. I still have splinters in my ### from McGill Stadium watching the DCI Prelims. I still remember falling in love with Phantom's show. I still have my ears ringing from Blue Devil's win in '82. I actually ran onto the field like a band groupie to see them redo their championship show on the field. They marched the show again. Ahhhh....wish corps would do that again. Ya right!!!

Yea right, after finals are over? I remember doing a show after finals in 74. We lost to both Madison and Anaheim and we left the show rocking the buses screaming, "We're number 3, we're number 3!!!" I thought sburstall meant after winning a contest, not including finals. You know like back in the "old days" when the winning corps would play their show in the parking lot for all their competitors. I didn't mean they practised after finals. In earlier threads there have been instructors saying that they want to leave early from the shows so they can get that extra hour of practise time in the next day. Whatever!! muchachos
My favorite is one that still lives in infamy. I was a member of the Muchachos in 1974, and anyone who was witness to our finals show in Ithica will tell you that it's true. It was the closest experience to being a rock star anyone could ever imagine. The crowd was the loudest ever heard, and when we came off the field, there were fans trying to tear off our uniforms, girls throwing underwear, babes coming up and kissing us. It was the most bizzare scene I've ever been a part of. The experience of how loud the crowd was has never been duplicated.... even to this day!....UNBELIEVABLE. charleschuchuta
My point being, how would he know if it "has never been duplicated...even to this day!".
