some old corps photos

Recommended Posts

Mitch, do you remember when you guys stayed with us (BD) at the school in Stillwater? I can't remember whether it was 1976 or 1977. We couldn't walk to the bathroom without being "rated" by a large group of Cavies boys.

76. I don't think we went to Stillwater in 77. and yea, that sounds like us. I was a little, skinny, shy 15 year old kid back then but there were plenty of guys who had a "way with the ladies". LOL! We were happy when you and SCV were around. We got tired of looking at all the Phantom and Guardsmen girls!! LOL! Plus, they knew us too well

"Is it soup yet?"

"No, it's still water"

This is the Kingsmen at the 74 CYO Nationals.

I played around with the color balance and adjusted it a bit:

I'm pretty sure this is 1978

I think you're right, as this looks similar in background and appearance to a group of Oakland photos you posted, also from 1978.

heh! Frank looks about exactly the same now as he did 17 years ago. Can't say the same about all of the folks there though. I kept hoping for more horn arch section photos from around. She must have known one of the sopranos.?

I'm pretty sure Bonnie had at least one student who marched Star that year, so I'm guessing that she was focusing on those students in these photos.

Doesn't cleaning the drill imply cleaning the marching? If you march dirtier than a porn convention, your drill will be just as bad.

I don't know if you ever marched tymps or were in the pit the whole time....but try to do a BIG company front rotation like 82 27th...simple in concept...a royal bear to march cleanly....we did one on a smaller scale in 87 Empire...it was one of the most difficult moves I've ever done because there was not a lot of margin for error, especially if you were real close to the pivot pointg and were setting the angle.

I actually didn't march in corps, but for a few months I was in band and I ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Did/does she teach in Indiana? Maybe Salem right now? I think I've heard of her.

You really can't compare corps and band in the early 80s, tho....the high amount of band directors with strong corps backgrounds hadn't started hitting the schools yet (at least not in California)
