lindap
A couple of those guys look like they're a bit older than 21......still have cool uni's though! Some of the guys in our corps early 70's had moustaches and beards; they looked older. Greg had a moustache at 16. He left drum corps at 18. oh sigh um...I got a 1977 recording of AAG's drum solo, the only year we used Vistalites, an all girl drum line, average age was older than the rest of the corps, 17 1/2 to 18. I'd love for y'all to hear it but I don't know how to post a recording or if I can? oh sigh...still a cool drum solo though ;-)

I believe this was a pic taken during a promotional shot for Ludwig; maybe January of 1975.
HornsUp
The second guy from the right is Ray Weiner, '75 Madison snare. I believe this was a pic taken during a promotional shot for Ludwig; maybe January of 1975. I walked into a winter Kiltie rehearsal, and ran into my 27yo horn instructor Les Chambasian wearing a uniform. With a big grin on his face, he told me he just finished posing in the snareline for a Vistalite promo pic.

I remember I had just joined the corps; I didn't have a uniform yet, so I couldn't be in any of those shots. Ray was with us for a number of months over the winter before he returned to Madison, which is why he's in that picture.

Is that the same Ray Weiner who marched in the Bayonne Kidets (B'men feeder corps) around 1968 or '69 or so? Fred O.

Ray marched with the St. Andrew's Bridgemen in '73--the 9-man snare line. He marched snare with the Scouts in '74, '75, and '77. I'm not sure about pre-1973. drumno5
Ray marched with the St. Andrew's Bridgemen in '73--the 9-man snare line. He marched snare with the Scouts in '74, '75, and '77. I'm not sure about pre-1973. Yeah, I recall seeing him with the Bridgemen in the winter of '72 - '73 when I visited a rehearsal. We had crossed paths briefly a few years earlier as I was on my way up and out of the feeder corps (and into class B obscurity when my family moved out of Bayonne just after that) and Ray was just coming in. He may have also marched Bridgemen in '72 (or earlier), I don't know for sure. Thanks for the reply - regards, Fred O.
