What's funny is it sounds like we all sang the same stuff in one shape or another!

Seeing that there are a bunch of Hurcs coming in and out, (and I'm sure you saw the tune Westshore used to sing) did you guys have any Westshore songs? I would be curious about that one!

"Ancient Melody":

"Here's to the Garfield Cadets,

Viva La Com-Par-Ny"

"They're just as bad as the Mets

Viva La Com-Par-Ny"

"Viva, La Viva La Viva l'Amore'

Viva, La Viva La Viva l'Amore'

Viva L'Amore'

Viva L'Amore'

Viva La Com-Par-Ny.....

"Here's to Chicago's Cavaliers

Viva La Com-Par-Ny"

"When wer're done with them

They'll be in tears"

Viva La Com-Par-Ny"

Repaet Chorus....

Somewhat "Popular" at the time of the 1961 VFW Nationals....

Enjoy.

To the tune of "O' Taunnenbaum"

They trouped the stands,

They trouped the stands,

Oh, F*****G Bush they trooped the stands

And when they asked what did they do,

They lost a point,

to Number 2,

They trouped the stands,

They trouped the stands,

Oh, F*****G Bush they trooped the stands

"Oh, Racine"

(sung to "Turkey In The Straw"

"Oh Racine, Racine,

How you set my heart a-quiver

With your torn-up streets

And your dirty Root River;

Oh, I love you with my heart

And I love you with my liver;

Oh, Racine!

What a hole!"

"Sarah"

"Sarah, Sara, sitting in the shoeshine shop.

When she sits, she sits and shines;

When she shines, she sits and shines."

(Repeat faster and faster.)

"The Liquor Was Spilled"

"Oh, the liquor was spilled on the bar-room floor

And the bar was closed for the night.

Then out of his hole came a little grey mouse

And sat in the pale moonlight.

He lapped up the liquor on the bar-room floor,

And back on his haunches he sat;

And all night long, you could hear him roar

"Bring on the goddamned cat!"

"My Name is Pancho"

"My name is Pancho;

I work on de rancho;

I make five peso a day.

I go to see Lucy

To get me some poosy;

She take my five peso away."

And there was Barnacle Bill the Sailor. And lots more.

Ask and you shall receive:

Garbarina

(Sung to the Tune of "Oklahoma")

Oh here comes Garbarina, with our flags unfurled and flying high.

Garbarina, we are drum corps men, who don't know when we are licked,

and never will say die.

We're from New York,

and we will always sing her praises loud and clear.

Garbarina,

we will bring no shame to our fair name

and no drum corps contest will we fear.

Our drum line's the best in the land

and our horn line, it plays just as grand.

And when we go,

you'll see the greatest show.

We're always out to win - sock it in Garbarina,

Garbarina, Let's go!

Chorus: Garbarina Mazarakos, Garbarina Mazarakos,

(Repeat underneath)

Our drum line's the best in the land

and our horn line, it plays twice as grand.

Everyone: And when we go,

you'll see the greatest show.

We're always out to win - sock it in Garbarina,

Garbarina, Let's go!

Thank you, thank you, thank .....good post Mike and almost 100%......please see my edits....AND you also have correct spelling of the Post named for Raymond Garbarina and John Mazarakos

:P When I joined it was "the boys in powder blue". Then we got the BDs old unis (royal blue) and wimmen in the corps (so much for "the boys" part).

Had someone try to tell me "red and green" meant Cabs and Hurrcs. It actually means Archie and Reilly (I think) :music:

.......why yes, it does Jim.....but the song was first scribed in '63 by Donnie Solinger, while both corps were active competitive corps........the lyric did not and was not intended to celebrate the competitive demise of the two corps. However, those of us old Archie guys who have gone on to become part of the Buc's family don't sing those words. I do what I do best......mumble.....

Buc's -06

and a whole bunch of other stuff in between and currently

PS........Victory still has some great beers........

Reading had another Cabs song sung to the tune of Man of La Mancha, I think. I don't remember the words. By the time I marched there there were only a couple verses left in the corps' collective memory.

.......errrrrrrr, that would be the song about Jimmy Russo
