Einstein On The Beach
For those who aren't familiar with John Mackey, he's the young and talented composer who is now big for writing Redline Tango. He had an interesting post recently on his blog about the San Antonio show, so here's a link. Lots of pictures too! http://www.ostimusic.com/mackblog/blogger.html Edited July 27, 2005 by Einstein On The Beach
84BDsop
Wow...VERY nice....GOOD pictures (*cough* ....Jolesh sucks ###... *cough*). Quite the treat for a composer to hear 2 different groups interpret the same composition!

Matthew
That must have been a real treat for him, to be able to see his pieces being done on the field. I'm glad he enjoyed that--and I enjoyed the pictures he took of those corps!
tommytimp
I have nothing to add except that the title of this thread sounds like a folk song.
MikeD
I like the comment about having the symphony orchestra play his music while marching...shades of Woody Allen and his marching cello! Mike
Einstein On The Beach
More percussion! Yeah! From now on, all of my percussion parts need 6 toms. Quads are for #######! :spit:

Lots of pictures too!http://www.ostimusic.com/mackblog/blogger.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I spent some time with John at Rick Clary's house during a post-Wind Orchestra reception when he was here. He is such an enthusiastic guy, so wide-eyed about everything, and we had quite a long talk about drum corps, since he had never heard about them. It was a lot of fun to hang out with him, and very cool to explain drum corps to someone who has never seen it but is so enthusiastic about music.
