Well, that's a little bit rediculous don't you think? Finals was only on September 4th or so, and even the best production company isn't going to have two-week turn around on a live event of that magnitude.

I think BVP's product stinks too, but I'm not naive enough to expect them THAT fast.

Ridiculous when he ordered 2003 DVD's? No, not ridiculous to me...he didn't order this years finals, he ordered 2003. I said that in my original post.

BVP is obviously using non professional-standard equipment when producing the DVD's. I wish I could say we get what we pay for, but we really don't. We get screwed with a half-###ed product because there are simply less customers interested in DCA enough to buy our videos.

The DCI vid's are done by seasoned professionals, and are produced extremely well, with a TON of planning involved. DCI's budget is a lot more than DCA's, there are A LOT more people buying the DCI vid's, so the cost is lower and they get a better quality product.

There's more to it than this, but I'm tired of ranting about BVP. Fact is, they suck at what they do. Moran wasn't any better. I wish we could have the company that produced the 1996 DCA videos again...

According to their website they expect to videotape over 400 Marching Band performances , with that in mind I would expect everyone is getting and inferior product. It just baffles me that I've rented lots of DVD's and tapes from Blockbuster and never had a problem.

ar you really comparing BVP to production companies like Paramount and 20th Century Fox? :worthy:

Dude, come on now...

Not at all. It’s just that they perceive themselves as a professionally run operation and people would expect more than a mom and pop type of product. I don’t understand how the band crowd accepts this level of quality that’s all. Quality of a video can be explaned because conditions but editing and format one would think would be straight forward .

Yea, I did that after last year's debacle. Obviously, no one paid much attention.

As for menus and the basic features common to DVDs, they are just that...basic features. I spent ten minutes in Photoshop and Nero to create a better set of menues than BVP has.

The productions costs shouldn't rise at all for something this basic.

i asked dci about combining all the various judge tapes used over the years and using them all on one season....ge music, drums, guard, ge vis, brass etc.

they told me because of the fact that they only sell so many units it didnt justofy the cost.

given that DCA sells maybe 1/4th of what DCI does, i'd imagine it is the same.

only if they can make the sideline look closer to the fans on the 50 :P

as for BVP...odd, i've yet to have a problem..and i have stuff of theirs going back 13 years w/TOB...video and dvd. works on every machine i've ever tried em on.

I just got my finals DVD's and they are perfect. Nice DVD case. Menu is very usable although maybe a little bland. Sound quality is awesome.

Overall a very well produced and packaged product IMHO. Not sure what you guys are getting but I'm very happy with mine.

You got yours in a DVD case?????

Like this? pict62.jpg

I just googled how much these cases cost, and this one website is selling 1,000 cases for $92.77. Pretty cheap if you asked me.

I too, would love to see the same company that did the 96 video do it again this coming DCA. That is the best DVD to date, 96. Does anyone know who they were? It might help if some of us drop them a note so they can put a bid in for DCA.

Who knows, it can't hurt.
