yabetterbelieveit
Im just listening to Garfield (Cadets, whatever!) 87 opener, very loud on my computer I might add. Yowza! (Had to say it) Ive probably listened to that show 100x, but never has the purity or sheer strength of that particular opener hit me like it just did. And that led me to thinking... do you think there are certain corps who just do openers better?? Being in a "Cadets" mood, I'm going to list some of my favorites from them.... The best being bolded. If you wanna throw your opinion in, which is always wanted, think just the opener. Im bolding my favorites, though. 1983 1987 (POWER!) 1989 (Those mellos could play like no other...and I think this was their first year playing before/during the announcement of the corps? I could be wrong. The whole effect is unreal.) 1993 1997 (Fast as lightning!) 2001 2005 (So what my fighting-action favorite movie happens to be Kill Bill!) I also really enjoy SCV 1989, very haunting, as well as 1999 (THE CANYON!). I think overall though, Im gonna have to go with the Cadets (Garfield, whatever.) Any opinions (I know there are!) Euph_Dolphin
not the best, but i definately think scv 2001's opener was awsome, i just love how it starts off all nice and pretty, much like a music box, then out of nowhere, the hornline just blows away the crowd....just bad ### Edited November 9, 2005 by Euph_Dolphin
Galen
Or in 2002, where they dispense with the "pretty music box" portion and just tear people's faces off right at the downbeat B)
Slow Adam
Or in 2002, where they dispense with the "pretty music box" portion and just tear people's faces off right at the downbeat B) That was 2001, and it was an upbeat with reference to the music box, downbeat with reference to the clock bell. :) One of my favourite openings ever, very cool moment. In 2002 they opened with a short suspended cymbal swell into the first chord.
