drgreen33
I've heard Rob Carson may have been one of the best. Who else?
tommytimp
Pat Petrillo. Robbie Robinson. Pete Castellaneta. Larry Cohen. Nate Baruch. Jeff Prosperie. Rich Viano. That's some of the guys from my era. Olde Phartes, come on out of the woodwork and let's have 'em!
Carl306
Don't know his name, but the snare player from BD who played the opening lick in 2003. I believe he was there from 98 until 2003? Someone correct the years if I'm wrong...

ironlips
Here are just a few greats in the history of corps style snare drumming: Lenny Hart -father of Grateful Dead drummer, Mickey Hart Frank Arsenault - Skokie Rita Macey - Audubon Rocco "Rick" Nardelli - Blessed Sac Billy Cobham - St. Catherine's Queensmen, Sunrisers, Mahavishnu Orchestra...etc * Gary Pagnozzi - Bridgeport PAL, Park City Pride Charlie Poole - Boston Crusaders * Billy is left handed, so played matched grip tenor on the field since drums were carried by sling and rested on the left knee. But he competed in I&E on snare, reversing the sling, and won consistently.
Snapettes Mom
Rob Carson's 78' I&E solo was epic. He broke his drum and his main competitor's from the Freelancers. (Zeburg) sp? as well... Steve Chorazy (gig'n in NY.NY.) Ken Mazur (writing his book on The History Of Rudimental Drumming) Scott Johnson (cranking out one great line after another) Dave Dilillo (incognito at Ebay) Jeff Queen (Crown *jewel) Roger Carter (?) Ivan Pacheco (audio interview on RLRR.com) BTW In 2005 The West Coast I&E scene was represented at DCA by 3 Renegades. Earl Brown 2nd place ex Freelancer Thom (Bolero : ) 4th ex Boston Crusader Mike French 7th ex BD & SCV center snare Mom
bd5times
I would also throw in Nat Barouch. Marched in that killer 80 Spirit snare line and went on to win DCI in 82 with the Blue Devils then became center snare with the 83 Blue Devils, winning the percussion caption as well as snare I&E.
