The Golden Years of DCI

Recommended Posts

What's a time period of DCI in which you thought that you could label it as the Golden Years of DCI? These are the years that you find yourself visiting most often and can find numerous shows that you can dub as fantastic. It could be considered in your opinion, the epitome of DCI.

These year ranges are to be around 5 years.

For me:

1989-1993

---- Highlights

1989 Santa Clara Vanguard - "The Phantom of the Opera"

1989 Phantom Regiment - "New World Symphony"

1989 The Cadets - "Les Miserables"

1990 The Cadets - "Undiscovered Bernstein"

1990 The Cavaliers - "The Cavalier Anthem"

1990 Star of Indiana - "Belshazzar's Feast"

1990 Phantom Regiment - "Dreams of Desire"

1990 Santa Clara Vanguard - "Carmen"

1991 Star of Indiana - "Roman Images"

1991 The Cavaliers - "The Cavalier Anthems: The Advent Collection"

1999-present

I can find shows I like in any year, but my very favorites are usually from those years, with 1995 thrown in.

I still think the best is yet to come, though I hope I feel that way every year. :)

1975 - 1985

My personal reasons for picking this time period.

1. There were a lot more corps.

2. The corps played most of a song if not all of it.

3. The shows were more about the music than the visual.

4. Shows didn't have names.

5. The names of the corps were painted on the bass drums.

I'm an old phart.
