SaraNYC
Well, not a DCA corps, but at Star of Indiana's first show in 1985, Bloomington/Normal IL: From Bloomington Indiana - the STAR OF INDIA And then as an Alumni Corps in the 2004 Indy 500 Parade: Here comes the Star Alumni Corpse Marching Band playing Henry Vee NOT Henry the 5th, but Henry Vee - Only in Indiana
HBeyer2177
I remember, in a Maryland parade, Westshore was called "The Westshoremen Drug and Bugle Corps" Yeah...
Sayre Kulp
Les Dynamics = Lay-dine-amics = Less-dynamics Les Etoiles de Dorion = Lazy Toils day Darren = Lazy tw** de door ryan = Lay toilet de dorian Sound Wave was from Butter, PA once or twice... Every corps I have ever marched with had been referred to as a marching band at least twice. Then there are all those times I've heard corps announced from the right city but the wrong state! Tommy T-Bird
Once, the Erie newspaper mentioned that we were to be in a parade. We were referred to as "The Erie Thunderbirds Drunk and Bugle Corps" Also, the aforementioned "Drug and Bugle Corps" has been rumored to appeared in our fine<sarcasm> hometown newspaper. Another one: I believe the 1985 DCA recordings announcer says, "From Rochester, New York....The Rochester Statesmen". Ask the current Rochester Crusaders DM how many times HIS name has been butchered!
spiniki
Not drum corps, but in high school our field commander was Kate Weiner. She would always spell it Winner so the announcers would at least say it right. I got so use to spelling it wrong, I'm not sure I spelled it right. TenorsForWorldDomination
Oh geez this one's great. When I was in Grenadiers we have been called some interesting names throughout the years. The one that sticks is The Grenaders. And staff names.. Mike Sharpe would come out at Mike Shapp Scott Atkins has been Scott Aitkens Mario Cote was Mario Coat Then the biggest mess up...2005 Corning, NY. We were entering the field and the announcer said "Ladies and gentlemen, now entering the field, The Rochester Crusaders!" There was definitely a grumble or two in the crowd after that one. John Mayer
The Govies were at retreat one time when the anouncement came in. "In 5th place with a score of 285..."(long pause, and you see Roman B's head pop up, he goes over to the announcer, he gets out his pen, makes his mark, and then....) "correction, with a score of 28.5.........The Governaires" Needless to say the crowd chuckled, and the Govies for 5 seconds, were the highest scoring corps EVER!!!! ..and yes I spelled it wrong, because they never spelled it right Edited March 9, 2006 by John Mayer
CozyChopsCom
I sport a patch on my jacket that has "Empire StatesmAn." Mr. B was not happy when I pointed out this typo. I have more trouble with Govenaires than any other name. Rrrrr! Bushwackers? I whacked that one a long time ago. I think "misspell" it, and I'll have it right. The "ll" not getting the "y" sound is probably the most common mispronunciation in drum corps, Caballeros, but, then, even the folks from El Paso don't pronounce their own city correctly.
