Attn:Drum Corps History buffs!

I've been looking for a long time, for a way to get all my drum corps stuff out

of their boxes and into everyone's view. I believe I may have found it!

This is my ultimate project.... and there is much to be done. But, in the long

run, it's more than well worth it for all of us!

It's a Blog to house all my decades of drum corps collecting. (We are talking

boxes, here). It will take *forever* to work on this... but, that's not just

because of the work involved... it's because... There's always History in the

making!

At the bottom of each entry there is a place to add your comments. (You'll be

asked to type a word first... this is to avoid excessive Blog spammers)

Please feel free to add anything pertinent to the entries. Ex: Your memories,

questions that you may have and/ or answers that you may have to help others

out... etc. My entries from publications are going to tell a lot... but, they

can't tell it all, so, that's where your knowledge / memories / and

participation comes in.

This is to preserve our hobby that's in our blood! Be a part of it.

I ask that you all respect that this is our history here and please act

responsibly and respectfully in your participation. Thanx in advance.

So, here you all go: http://historical-drum-corps-publications.blogspot.com/

Bookmark it and check it often. Most of all...Enjoy!

PS: There is no need to correct any spelling / typing errors.... I am simply

*copying verbatim*.

From an email from NanciD, (she's also posted this on RAMD and dcot60sa70s)

Tony B)

Tony,

I combined a bunch from RAMD and added a few touches... I posted it in the Yahoo

group.

Hugs!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wow! Thanx folks! I'm SO glad that you all are enjoying it!!!
This isn't even the beginning, not even the ground floor... heh..
I haven't even begun yet. But, yes, after I get a good amount of these
up there to work with - then all the organizing will come into play.
(making it easily searchable). For right now... you'll all have to
just settle for grazing. lol
I'm trying to make it easy to read and tossing in colors here and
there to make it less monotonous while scrolling through them. Plus,
the colors help pronounce the end of one and the beginning of the
next. I chose a white background so that the black and white pics
would show up nicely, and the words wouldn't get lost.
And I think the larger print is easier for everyone as well.
Why should we only be able to view these types of publications at a
reunion or whatever? They should be out here to enjoy at our leisure!
Man, some of these write-ups are striking me very funny - now!
I love the add on's that people are posting... I wish more folks would
contribute. I love the detailed emails that I'm receiving also....
but, please, contribute them to the site, so, that everyone can enjoy
them too!
If you are curious about certain terminology that was used.... please
ask. And if you view a question and know the answer... please answer
it. Some one once asked me what is *OTL*. Well, many folks have never
heard the term. So, how will now and future generations know....
unless it's explained somewhere.
And when you see a photo.... and you know all the uni colors please
post that as well. Example: (corps name) these were a bright yellow
satin shirt and navy blue sash... etc. This way, people can envision
it and also track the way the unis and / or corps colors have changed
or not over the years.
So, please keep adding on to help preserve all these types of details.
Thanx in advance! I'm adding more all the time... day and night so
check back often! And, by all means, feel free to pass along the link
to anyone you think might enjoy it!
Wow! I'm so glad that you all are enjoying this so much. This was my thinking when I was first trying to figure a way to share all this great stuff. I knew that *If you build it... they will come*. hehe
Seriously, why should we have to wait til a reunion or some type of gathering... to enjoy all of this?
BTW: In case any of you would like to share any of these articles.... to involk conversations on newsroups or whatever...
At the bottom of each entry... it says that it was posted by me and following my name is an underlined date and time.... if you click on that... its a permalink to that entry / article / picture. You can then use that link to share the entry. Enjoy!
And I hear from many folks (via email) that want to share additional tidbits about this article or that picture.... but, they didn't post a comment on the blog because they didn't want to have to *join*. That is NOT the case. I purposely set it up so that you don't have to join. The only thing you have to do is... retype a weird looking word. (This is to avoid excessive spammers)
This is a History site for all of us that know and love drum corps (or want to know and love drum corps). If you ever have a comment to add that is pertinent to the article / pic., please, by all means add it.... But, don't just sign in as annonymous.... please sign your own name. No one is going to email you or whatever. But, I think your comment will mean a heck of a lot more coming from a signed person. Don't you agree? If you just have a personal comment or question to me... by all means, email me. NanciD@att.net .
At any rate.... enjoy!
(I better get back to adding more entries before TW sends me more email.... asking *What's the hold up?* LOL)
Some folks just can't get enough.... they *need* their daily *fix*. Right, TW? PS: Yes, I've now made another post on DCP. shuddup already. ROFL!
