wierdest shows of all time?

Recommended Posts

'88 Suncoast Sound - their "Contemporary Child" show. It was considered extremely avant garde at the time and (in my opinion) underappreciated by the fans. It was way WAY ahead of it's time and in my mind is a classic. I vote for it every year to be on the Classic Countdown, but maybe I'm the only one.

No, it's not just you.

I love that show.

I loved Suncoast 88 as well. Very different.

For magic I would say the 1994 version with the guard in the white blob outfits and the guy hitting the metal like a metronome up front on the platform then getting swallowed up by one of the blob guard members at the end. that was a very different show. one of my favorites too. Interesting that Robert Smith wrote both of these shows.

Spirit's show in 88 wasn't a weird show in itself, it was just weird that we were playing it. For a number of other corps, it would have been a beautiful fit. Probably the same can be said for 89 as well.

I assume y'all know that Jay Bocook arranged those books (although our horn fix it man, Charlie Wester, had a big hand in the 88 book)?

It would be quite a competitive show today!

Gotta agree with everyone else - Suncoast 88 was an awesome show.

I hated 93 Star all through tour. The first time I saw it from the stands early

in the season I was like "wtf is THAT"? But at semis I went into the stands after

we did our show and watched them from the 4th row. I was in awe of that hornline.

Now it's one of my favorite shows.

90 Star and 91 BD as others have mentioned are also favorites.

Our (Bluecoats) 92 show was way off the charts bizarre, but I actually like the

music (except for Penny Lane). I like the opener (Eleanor Rigby) alot because

it has a few bits and pieces of other songs hidden throughout. I like the beginning

of the closer (A Day In the Life) cause it sounds like music from a pron video!

(Not that I would know what porn video music sounds like - that's just what I've been told).

One strange one that i didn't care for is 95 BD Carpe Noctem.

Yeah, that was a great, weird show. I was a huge and immediate fan of your '91 show (truth be told, one of the reasons I us wanted to beat Bluecoats at Finals that year was so I could hear you guys play yourselves off the field...), and wasn't disappointed by '92. Really interesting, fresh take on the Beatles.

Especially after the Dixie-fest of their '87 show.
