DNgo
Texas in middle of July = ^0^ we had to change our rehearsal to a 6-10am a 2 hour siesta and then afternoon rehearsal after lunch so it was pretty intense Even though it was hot, I hope you enjoyed your stay at our school in Houston! hughesmr
I was thinking...did the summer heat have something to do with scores at finals being so low this year? You mean, like a 97.2 ?!?
bishtom
2005 winning score was a 99.15 97.2 is low compared to that

bishtom
finals week was awesome weather wise,,,but did the intense summer heat effect the way that corps rehearsed?
Einstein On The Beach
finals week was awesome weather wise,,,but did the intense summer heat effect the way that corps rehearsed? It really wasn't that hot... And either way, it doesn't really matter, you have a job to do. Why would a corps let something as minute as the heat hold them back from getting better. Besides, are you actually using a score as a measurement of how good shows were this season? Especially since most of the corps this year were lightyears ahead of last season. yabetterbelieveit
Well, I'm not a member, but working souvenirs in Kansas while it was 112 with like 90% humidity was no walk in the park!
Jared_mello
This seemed like the least hot of all the summers that I've marched. There were only a few times this summer when it was really dawning on me that the weather was ridiculously hot (Mississippi was probably the worst), but nothing was even close to unbearable this year. Maybe it was just how our rehearsals were managed, or something. Water every 15 or 20 minutes on the hotter days, sectionals in the shade, and at least one long break (if not several) during ensemble. We did a few split runthroughs over the course of the season, so people could get a quick drink of water halfway through the show. Finals week in Madison was gorgeous and much appreciated. WesHender
For the Cascades it was nice finals week and in Texas for the most part! Grants Pass, Oregon was 110 with a Heat index of 125+ on the field one of the hot days on tour but there was a few other bad places Denver 105+ Tulsa was 110. But the big winner was Kansas 115 but 130+ in the Heat index , and it did not help we had to walk almost a mile to get to the fields to practice on for the sleeping area! Thank gosh for Pizza Hut who filled our water jugs with ice cold water for free!
