Tom Brace
With a record finals attendance of over 4K and at least one regional show that had more than 2K in attendance (for a II/III only in Glendale, AZ), what does the future hold for II/III? Can we attempt to define the purpose of Div. II/III? Should more $$$ be spent particularly to offset marching member costs for II/III in the form of DCI scholarships? More ideas? CorpsBuff
A league for corps who due to certain restrictions (economic, location etc.) cannot garner enough interest to become div 1. Or they just rock out in div II so much that they dont want to move :)
Gbassman5
it's kinda sad that most people so far think it's a minor league if that were true, then why are all the lower div. 1's so far down there???
leadsop97
it is sad that people think it's the minor league. I know many talented people who have only marched div II/III, and choose to stay at that level. what is div II/III? I don't know. But I do know that it's not the minor leagues, or maybe it is, since like every minor league sports there's lots of players/teams who are better than the "professionals". hmmmm, and just in case you didn't catch it, that was an open challenge, mwahahahaha. I agree with that. If you were to consider it the "minor leagues," then just like the real baseball minor leagues there are many "players" that could definitely hack it in the "majors" but don't. That, and if we're relating drum corps to the major and minor leagues, then there are definitely some Kansas City's and Pittsburgh Pirates that perhaps would fare better in the "minor leagues." baristeve
You could look at it either way... but i do think that minor leagues is the "most-accurate." Albeit still inaccurate, those who have the talent to do division 1 and choose to stay in division 2 do it because they have a love for their corps... but as a whole, 2/3 has much less talent level than 1. DrummerGurl21
I think this "survey" is missing what drum corps is all about. Div II and Div III are in those divisions because of size. There are some corps that choose to stay in a "lower" level not because they "suck" but because they enjoy where they are. Imo Div I can be a little overrated. I would much rather stay with my Div III corps than move up to a Div I or even a Div II corps. I'm not saying I am worthy of playing in those "higher" corps, but I am happy where I am. And everyone needs to realize that a corps is a corps, they all have the same mission in mind, teach kids about music, and teach kids how to live. ::steps off soap box::
