Not sure Key is a great addition. His music is all pretty formula and has a tendancy to all sound the same and most of that is pretty bland. I hope this works out for you. I am basing this on SCV and the 3000 bands that play his stuff.

Key did the Cab’s last year nothing bland or “pretty bland” about that show,

most thought it was the most exciting and Fan Friendly in DCA.

With Lee and Key, Sky will be…….anything but, bland!

Well, we were trying to get Nicole Richie, but she was too skinny.

If his stuff all sounded the same, 3000 bands wouldn't play it.

Does Key's music have a "signature sound"? You bet. Does he write thematically? Again, he sure does. Does it all sound the same? No way. Key's arranging of other works for band and corps is amazing as well. What's he's done for SVC (even prior to his original stuff there) is fantastic. I freely admit I used to think the same thing....that the trend of "original compositions" for band was yielding a certain "sameness". Then I got the opportunity to teach one of Key's musical book and completely changed my mind.

I particularly liked his book for the Renegades in 2006, and his work for Cabs the last few years. I think the Skyliners should consider themselves fortunate that Key was able to work them into his already busy schedule.

It's funny that you consider the "Key Sound" as a negative. Robert W. Smith was a target of the same criticism just over a decade ago.

This has already been answered by St_Marys64, but I would stand behind anything Key arranged. 4 years of original music that was well received for the Cabs was no small feet! And from the ovations we got at finals, I would say he more then raised the bar! Not saying that writing for Sky would be a walk in the park either but if anyone is up to the task of bringing Sky into a new era, I couldn't see anyone else do a better Job then Key.

Good luck Key, good luck Lee, and good luck Sky.

Key, we will miss you at Cabs, but thanks for some great music and even better memories! Keep in touch! B)

Thanks Josh! So far, we are having a lot of fun putting together the Sky 2007 staff and Executive Team.

Over the last few years, the New York Skyliners may not have had a lot of members, the Skyliners may not have had a lot of money, and the Skyliners may not have had a lot of competitive success.

But, there are a lot of people who care very, very deeply about the Skyliners (including many of their competitors), and with that group of people working together, we can solve ALL of the money, membership and competition issues very quickly.

You would not believe the people who have called or written in to express their support -- staff and members from almost every DCA corps, and even the DCA Board of Directors! We all want the same thing here -- to get the New York Skyliners on their feet quickly -- where they belong!

All we need to succeed is people with heart, and who can agree to put away all of the past disagreements, infighting and chaos of the past aside for the sake of the Skyliners.

If that happens - the Sky is the limit! B)
