spamula
Which do you call your instrument? Mello or Melli? Personally I dont understand why anyone would ever call it a "melli". I can understand the old school aspect of it, but to me, its a MELLOphone! Show me one I in mellophone and I would understand. So if you vote for melli, please give an explanation! spamula
A few guys from the Erie Thunderbirds call it a "melli" ... I also so it on a post from a guy thats posting in the Blues Inc thread. So I was just wondering what everyone else thought. (It kills me at T-birds rehearsal when i was a "mello" at ES, but a "melli" at T-birds.. couldnt stand it)
FlamNCheez
Mello, but I'm a drummer...
ravedodger
I prefer meller as in old meller. I've heard melli a few times, but I don't think I've used the word.
ducttapedgerbil
I had never heard "melli" until the last few years....and it seems to come from the "bando" influence. YUCK!!!!
Skylander
Would you call a soprano a sopi? Would you call a baritone a baroni? Would you call a contra a contri? It was a mello when I first played it in 1965 and to me it will always be. OK, back to being mello now!
camel lips
STan Kenton called it a MELLOPHONEIUM,,,,,thats all I know. :P
supersop
Mello for one ... melli for the line. I don't know how or where I picked up the habit but that's how I address my students. It is a natural form of pluralism.
Shadow_7
Alto or Altos (since we seem to name brass voices after vocal voices) (at least when it comes to G bugles) Mello or Melli? (all the more reason to go back to french horns)
