  1. A concern I would have as a parent....if the board/staff knew then they are culpable also. If the board/staff didn't know how in the hell did they not know....they are not keeping themselves in the loop and aware of what is going on, they are incompetent. Either way would I trust my kid to decisions this organization makes???? This is Penn all over again....
  2. please list my options....I cannot think of any of note.
  3. I would not take those odds to vegas if I were you....maybe you've read "The Emperor's New Clothes"??????
  4. I was pretty much gone last year.....the first year in a long time that I did not see a single DCI show nor buy anything DCI-related. But I have my memories of what drum corps was in its glory years and all the dvds and recordings....and I won't be seeing any more DCI as I do not want to taint all those wonderful memories. We have been fighting this fight for almost 15 years and warning them that this day may come if they did not heed the warnings....don't blame us for not trying. They may not miss me but for ###### sure they are going to miss my $$.
  5. So what do I call a drum corps that uses(allows) trombones and sousaphones????? I don't......they are dead to me....
  6. Drum Corps "businessman"??????? get real...just because you try to jam it into the mold of a "business" does not make it one....that's why drum corps has always been a not-for-profit activity...not because they chose not to make $$ but because there is no sustainable business model that would allow it to thrive and generate a profit as a business.
  7. I don't think I would be so dramatic as calling anything that has happened with DCA corps as a "tragedy"....that's just silly.
  8. http://www.freelancers-alumni.org/ we currently have a large NorCal and SoCal contingent and hold local rehearsals in Sacramento and Simi Valley and once a month we have a "camp" in central California. Those camps are typically a 6 hour block on a Saturday and we all carpool together. It makes for a long Saturday but it is lots of fun and we get a lot done. Get on the forum, drop us an email, and come on out to a rehearsal.
  9. Thank you DCI, I won't ever have to buy another DCI ticket/DVD/etc... for the rest of my life!!!
  10. hopefully I won't ever have to see mirrors used on the field again. :-)
  11. All Celine Dion tunes as performed by a Drum & Bugle Corps ...oh yeah, there aren't any ....exactly.....
  12. Morons, what they should have done is included the audio and cut the video.....
  13. the real solution is to do away with electronics entirely but then again... "The Emperor has no clothes"
  14. if IMDB is correct he is only 32 years old....that's some hard living!!!! he looks 60
  15. If they pass electronics I will wish for a prelims like 2006 every year after that.
  16. DCA performs in the rain.... water and electricity do not mix well. This will guarantee that it is NEVER!!!!!! YAY!!!!!! This is why it important that we NEVER move DCA Championships to a dome. Drum Corps is an outdoors activity!!!!
  17. Yup, it's like someone denying the existence of Bigfoot while one sneaks up behind them and goes "boo". Their perspective changes completely once they turn around......
  18. I actually have not heard anyone who knows who Frank is disagree with him on his point. I welcome the rest of you to ask your instructors/director of your corps who Frank is... I think that will put the issue into perspective for you. I am pretty sure he has been working with corps up until at least the last few years so even though he is a dinosaur his experience is certainly not out of date. You could do a lot worse than Frank as a role model for your Drum Corps experience.
  19. except this crotchety old guy has taught most of us and taught most of the instructors/staff/directors of most of the World/Open class Drum Corps. When Frank talks....you listen.
  20. When I marched I did not do it for the fans, neither did a lot of people I marched with.
  21. I know there are a lot from before 1990 that are tired of the reference
  22. what "in stock items"????? Anyone needing more than 1 or 2 of a particular G horn will have to wait a few days while they make you one so the "old stock" argument is a non-starter.
  23. At the very least I don't think you would have to twist any arms to get DCA to allow you to do minicorps in exhibition. Just ask ahead of time and be nice and I am sure they would welcome you as long as the program is not full.
