What would be bigger....

Recommended Posts

Thought about this question while watching TBDBITL and Script Ohio today....

What would be a bigger milestone for you, dotting the "i" in Script Ohio, or winning a DCI Championship?

Tough call, but I would have to go with dotting the "i".

Winning DCI. I really don't care about marching band in the least. And when you're at a football game, you know 99% of the people are there to see the football team, not you. At World Championships, you know all the people in the stands are actually there to watch drum corps.

And Ohio sucks.

If you're a tuba player good enough to be in a Div 1 championship corps, you're also good enough to be in the Ohio State marching band (provided you want to be). Therefore, you could do both and not have to choose. :)

Well, since I don't know what either of those things are, I'm going to have to go with winning DCI.

:o

Let me take this one, Jason.

Hey, Morgoth! Yer mother wears combat boots! :P

Oh, and I could care less about marching band, either. I'll take a DCA ring since I no longer qualify for DCI.

Winning DCI Championships

You should make it something more comparable, like dotting the "i" or doing the bottle dance with SCV on field or doing the Phantom Regiment wedge or something like that

Does anyone care to elaborate about this "dotting of the I"?

Does anyone care to elaborate about this "dotting of the I"?

This is the Script Ohio, the signature (excuse the pun) drill form of the Ohio State University Marching Band:

It is traditional to "dot the i" as the final part of the move. Usually the i is dotted by a sousaphone player. Sometimes a celebrity will dot the i. Either way, it's considered an honor to be the dot.

Ohio State University spells out "Ohio" during their pre-game show, and a tuba player gets to dot the "i" of Ohio and people freak out
