Classic Countdown Finalists

Recommended Posts

Yep, two years in a row I've voted heavily for Suncoast, North Star, and VK. Not sure that I'll attend this year.

The key in a lot of these is whether the alumni's got together to help rock the vote. Alot of these have to be alumni, look how many from the 80's made it! (Yeah for the 80s).

And look how many from the later years made it.

Which I still don't understand how a show from last year should be considered "classic". But that's just me.

So much for a surprise as to which corps will be shown at the theater. Out of 30 finalists, only 11 corps are represented, and only 4 of those have one selection. I guess the drama will be who from those 4 (27, Bridgeman, Glassmen, and Crown) will perform with Cadets, SCV, Madison, BD, Phantom Regiment, Star, and Cavaliers?

I am just a little disappointed I guess.

I however, do think the show will rock, and I will be in attendance.

My votes.

1987 Garfield Cadets

1987 Santa Clara Vanguard

1988 Madison Scouts

1989 Santa Clara Vanguard

1989 Phantom Regiment

1991 Star of Indiana

1994 Blue Devils

2006 Carolina Crown

Shows that I love that I have not seen in many, many years (in most cases).

Well, looks like a good night to get out the Legacy DVDs. Only 3 or 4 shows I would be interested in seeing, & I have them already on DVD...

I wish I would've known this while voting but I've got other emails to vote from..

So just keep this in mind.

From dci.org.

After this final round of voting, each of the 2007 Classic Countdown finalist corps will be ranked according to its performance that received the highest number of votes. No individual corps will appear more than once during the 2007 Classic Countdown, so you’ll be guaranteed to see eight different corps on April 26.

Crown 2006 or Glassmen 2001...........oh my......anyone want to try to swing me one way or another?? $$$$

I didn't understand the 2001 Glassmen show when I first saw it during the 2001 season....but now I have a greater respect for it....the flugel soloist is GREAT!!!!! However, 2006 Carolina Crown got me out of my seat 3 times on finals night........WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!!!! b**bs

Two things shock me about this list.

First, that Suncoast, once again, didn't make it.

Second, That cadets 05 did.

Aside from those, as I feared the corps are skewed towards the 00s

70s-1

80s-9

90s-7

00s-13

Hope more old schoolers come out to vote. Not really intersted in paying to watch 8 corps from the last 6 years.

7 corps will be PR, BD, SCV, Cavies, Scouts, Cadets, and Star

with one of Crown, Glassmen, Bridgemen, or 27 thrown in

My votes in finals:

80 Bridgemen

87 Cadets

87 SCV

89 Regiment

91 Star

94 BD

95 Scouts

03 Regiment

REALLY sucks we won't know whats showing until the night arrives. I think we need to bombard DCI with complaints about that.

I was bummed to lose a couple from my original list, would've loved to have seen Scouts 2003 and BK 2006 on there. I'm also disappointed that there are no Bluecoats shows to choose from, 2003, 2005, or 2006 would have all been worthy.

But wow, talk about some great shows to choose from. A couple of them like Star '93 and SCV '99 were easy. I was pretty torn on my last few picks, though. I wish I could've voted for twice as many shows as I did, and would pay to see any of the shows listed.

I just picked my eight favorites, regardless of corps. This time around, I figured I'd just let the chips fall where they may. My final list:

1993 Star of Indiana

1999 Santa Clara Vanguard

2000 The Cadets

2002 The Cavaliers

2003 Phantom Regiment

2004 The Cavaliers (my last pick, just beat out Phantom 2006)

2005 The Cadets

2006 The Cavaliers

I wanted to vote for BD, but I prefer 1995, 2000 and 2004 to the champion shows available (though 1994 is killer). I also wanted to vote for a Madison show, but despite having thrilling music 1995 is kind of flat to look at (same reason I didn't vote for Phantom 1996). Scouts 1997 or 1999 would have been much better - and of course 2003, which I voted for the first time around. And I would've killed for SCV 2000 to be on there.

Overall, I think this has the potential to be a great line-up, and I'll almost certainly be in attendance at the Indy theater on 96th street in Fishers.
