George82
1979- their sound was smooth and sophisticated. The forebearer of their dominance in brass for the next 3 years. 1986- loud and technically proficient. 1994- one of the best EVER

Glad To Be Hear
Can't believe I'm the first to say 94! 94, 94, 94!! Victory arc at Ypsilanti was...wow! Sat in front row--literally, we were 8 feet further back at the end than the beginning. I hope they did structural work after that show. Remember, we're rating our favorite Blue Devils HORNLINES -- not necessarily full corps. Although, 1994 was a very good line. (But go back and listen to the Pavilion recording from that year. They made a lot of progress over the summer.) I am only going to pick my three from corps that I saw live. 1. 1991 -- It's good to see others picking this line as well. IMHO, the best hornline in drum corps history. With a better visual program and percussion, who knows? 2. 1988 -- Got me hooked on drum corps. Fantastic line and great soloists. 3. 1993 -- Amazing hornline. Too bad the visual program wasn't on par this year. (But they sure fixed that the next year...) I think you get a real feel for the quality of these lines from the old Pavilion recordings. Good stuff... arrangerx
1986 1988 1984 Brass playing that didn't bow to indoor standards of today -- with variety, emotion, stamina and entertainment value. Loud with quality and professionalism. The natural successors of Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Ashley Alexander, etc.

Lancerlady
'80 – incredibly smooth'84 – spectacular energy (LOVE La Fiesta!) '86 – near perfection! . . . and no, I'm not an old guy who has no respect for the current state of the activity . . . those just happen to be my three favorite BD hornlines. But there are many, many, more recenty hornlines that would be runners-up. Totally agree with your choices and your last statement too...lol I would add 94 though. And 88...lol...can't forget 88...
