DMCK
"With One Look" from Sunset Blvd - Jamie Coolbaugh 1996 "Car Chase" from Sunset Blvd - Jerome Kimbrough 1996 ...also Jerome's solo from the "Jeckyll & Hyde" show in 1998. Bias? Yep. We've had many underrated soloists over the years. We have some good solos this year that will rank right up there on this list, I believe. drumlaw80
Here is a question -- has a non-soprano player ever won high-soloist at DCA?
camel lips
Here is a question -- has a non-soprano player ever won high-soloist at DCA? Seems like this has been covered in another thread before. Im thinking that some Mello player won it just once,,the other dates are all surrounded by Sops and :spit: trumpets Edited June 7, 2007 by camel lips

Fran Haring
I'm pretty sure Jim Steele, Empire Statesmen mellophone, also won Best Soloist one year.... 1996, I believe. Fran
TennTux
I have a vague recollection of a Sunrisers (John Arientano's I think) solo in Send in the Clowns Besides "Screech" there was another SunSop soloist that played this solo, it was Dave DeAndrea (1979-1982; 1984; 1986) or Legend of the One Eye'd Sailor The soloist in "Legend" was a mellophone, Michelle (Calogianes) Monturo (1976-1984) (then again, my "Sun History" goes up to the Bridgeport show in 1985...) where he just hung out in the stratosphere for what seemed (to my young aspiring trumpet playing self) an eternity.I may play baritone now but, my soprano days guide my judgement (or lack there of) I will always be a fan of Higher, Louder And/or Faster!
