menathradon
so cavies are on top of the scoring now (77.1)... and so what does that tell you about west coast inflation?? its stupid, dumb, and an ignorant assumption that west coast corps aren't getting the scores they really deserve, PLUS its a real slap in the face to the judges. geluf
"West coast inflation" doesn't really kick in until the big boys head East. That usually leaves corps like Pacific Crest and sometimes Mandarins on their own over there. It happens every year with PC. They do a bunch of shows by themselves and score really high numbers....but only because the judges have nothing to compare them against. People will predict that PC will take 8th place at finals and such based on this, but when PC finally competes against the rest of the pack it falls back down to Earth. So, technically, its not "west coast inflation" as much as it is inflation due to a lack of corps to compare against. It just so happens that PC is on the west coast. PageantryVisGuy
Eh...it's just Midwest inflation. b**bs
drumcat
Guys, that "inflation" theory still makes me think that it has more to do with move-ins... local practice all winter will make June shows better. And it has nothing to do with August -- at least in general.
DCIcharlie
so cavies are on top of the scoring now (77.1)... and so what does that tell you about west coast inflation?? The Cavies won the championship last year. At their first show this year they could have all run into each other and fell down all over the field, with only half the corps able to finish the show and they still would have scored that high. Just look at last year. On June 22nd The Cadets scored 74.45 and beat Phantom at that show. And we all know how they ended up... UP_Front1201
It really all comes down to the finals performance. :P
Phansouth
BD had an 80 at their FIRST show a few years ago! Inflation on the WC is a real thing. Only when an east or midwest corps goes west do you get more reasonable scoring.
skluyuk
So....what you all are saying is that in reality, BD and SCV are actually scoring in the 65 to 67 point range, right? Psh...give it break and just wait until they go head to head. Everyone knows that the WEST is going to take it all this year anyway!!!! b**bs ^OO^

I give you much respect for marching 84 Devils. One of my favorite all time shows.
