Cainan
I figured you were talking about a brass instrument. Although, I honestly don't know which one. :( Mellos? There was a time when drum corps played bugles and these were referred to by their choir voice names. What we now call trumpets was once referred to as sopranos. Tubas were contrabasses, baritones and euphoniums were baritones. The interesting part of the hornline was the alto section which could contain a number of different instruments. In the 80's it was not at all uncommon to see corps marching french horns, mellophones and flugel horns all in the same hornline. These were commonly called "Altos" or the alto section, because they were the mid voice in the brass choir. Heck, BD even invented their own horn called the Meaphone to kinda incorporate all 3 voices into one. Hope this helps.
GSNewell
I am sure that this has been posted but I'll post it anyway...Here is a link to a great clip on the Yamaha site previewing Regiments' show. It's at least 5 minutes worth of show music. Click me... click me NOW! The West Coast corps had better look out, this sounds great for early June. I can't wait to hear Firebird in August. The middle horn licks are smokin'! ^0^ Enjoy b**bs That would be the Pearl site!
dckid80
I think the TSAR's poem is a decent effort for June. I mean it's kind of hard to really get the flavor of what he is trying to say over the internet. I'm sure that in person, after a couple of tours worth of cleaning... What I'm trying to say is let's see how he does in August. I'm willing to wait... Edited June 24, 2007 by dckid80

84BDsop
I see the Cavaliers' Firebird show, I think Pontiac. Well yeah...when yo hold up the hood of a Trans-Am at the end of the show... I have never seen or heard 78 regiment...so for ME Firebird is Cavies (88 version, please....NOT 97) And I disagree with teh bastardization assertion....this is a FANTASTIC arrangement that sticks close enough to the original, yet has enough modern flourishes to REALLY make it cook. During the bell tone sequence, the battery give me the impression of some fast moving drill...am I correct there?
dckid80
'78 was what hooked me on drum corps. I look at the place the activity is now and realize how lucky I was to have come to it when I did all those years ago.

vferrera
It is hard to attuneEither man or baboon, Or a larval cocoon, to the fact that it's June. Others may swoon Or howl to the moon Or play a bassoon In the middle of June. But I'd give a shiny doubloon In the morn or high noon (If I were a tycoon) Still, it's just June. The Chicago Tribune, Seems a tad too jejeune... No team is immune From the hardships of June So like a cartoon, (or a phantom platoon) or a crazy old loon Say it with me: It's just June! I'm off to the saloon. (Hope they have a spittoon). But it's never too soon to gauge how their doin' in the black, white and green or gold and maroon. And a still sleepy bruin would not his day ruin by checking the scores of the red or the blue ones. So stop your poo-pooin' ' 'bout how folks are construin' the end of the season based on happenings in June. And by the way, it's "jejune." I didn't realize we had so many Dr. Seuss-types on DCP. Perhaps these fine poets can re-write the narration for The Cadets.
