How is DCA protecting members?
LucyGuy66 replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Yes music rights problems have been going on for many years and whoever owns the music a corps want to play, it's entirely up to them to approve or just say no. Example : As of this year the Cabs Alumni will no longer be allowed to play Cherry Pink. You would think it would be in public domain by now but it's not. The person who owns the rights just said no!!! Sad! -
Yes, DCA finally has a schedule posted. They posted it on Facebook but not on there "Official Website". Just shaking my head at this one. Yes, I'm sure DCA will get a greater read on FB. But why bother having an "Official Website" if you're not going to maintain it??
-
Jeff Ream, neither does DCA!! LMAO
-
Well, it's May first and DCA still has no schedule posted. Some DCA corps have a spotty schedule on their web page, but many have nothing at all. Anyone want to speculate about the reason. Or is it that DCA is just dying a slow death?
-
DCA does not have a 2023 schedule posted (yet). If you go on each corps website, Reading and Hawthorne are the only corps I've found that have a schedule posted.
-
Now there's a double entendre! π

Does anyone know if DCA will hold any type of awards ceremony high brass, high percussion etc etc. (virtually I assume)

2020 Is Hanover Lancers 100th Year

The Lancers have an indoor show scheduled in three weeks April 4th. Anyone hear anything about this show being postponed or canceled?? -
Class A corps outside NE - what happened?
LucyGuy66 replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Your right Jim. Many parades do charge to participate. Money talks and without it many corps won't walk (the parade) -
Positive Brainstorming/DCA

As Fran has stated, every corps has been playing catch up to the Bucs for the past 10 years. But, if you look at the scores the week prior to finals the top 3 corps were within 7/10 th's of each other. That would be final scores. I think many fans and participants would be more interested in a final that was as close as those three were at that time. JMO.π -
See you at DCA World Championships!

I hope it's a happy dance you'll be doing when you're in the midst of us (Cabs Alumni) On Friday night. π -
looks like the season is just about over
LucyGuy66 replied to Florida Sun's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Florida, I'm just wonder if the judges are as sure as you are at this time. π -
I agree Fran. The numbers by Clifton will give everyone a pretty good idea where things are headed. CV will have been judged the previous week and Reading and Hawthorne will meet at Clifton.

What happen at Wildwood Cab show
LucyGuy66 replied to joefanalum's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
The show did go off. It was a "judged exhibition" No scores were given but the corps did receive a critique from the judges. -
Question About DCA Culture
LucyGuy66 replied to The Diddle Cartel's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I was 45 the first year I marched with the Cabs (1992). Marching drum corps was also on my bucket list though I did march in St. Lucy's for one year in 1966. I remember calling Post 199 on a rehearsal night and the person answering the phone was Jim Costello. After a short conversation he said come on down to the next rehearsal we will find a place for you. I'm sure the staff at Reading would say the same to you -- come on down we'll find a place for you. I never felt out of place or not accepted by the much younger members. If anything it was my own feelings of being "older" that made me hesitant. I marched through the 2003 season have made many friends "much younger than myself" that still remain in my life. My advise to you Diddle is GO FOR IT!!! You never want to say to yourself I might have, I could have, I SHOULD HAVE!! --btw I've been with the Cabs Alumni since 2004 when I aged out of the competing corps at 57 LOL LOL -
So now that Allen Buell has announced that the Alumni Specular will move to a stage performance, What are your thoughts about this? It will remain on Sunday.

Not looking good for any DCA show this week end
LucyGuy66 replied to Florida Sun's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Everyone will have to wait until next week. Same show just add Cincinnati to the mix. -
What happened to White Sabers?? I know they have been scored twice.

Favorite City for DCA Championships, and Why?
LucyGuy66 replied to N.E. Brigand's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Great stadium, lot's of choices for dining, lot's more to do (sightseeing). With all things considered it has to be Annapolis. I do agree with Fran that the concerts at the NYS fairgrounds were a benefit for DCA in exposing drum corps to hopefully new fans. -
What was the attendance like at Williamsport this past Saturday? Anyone know ?
-
No I didn't Florida. There final position is already known. It's a race for 2nd.
-
The scores for Williamsport are really interesting. Cabs 87.75 White Sabers 87.35 Fusion 87.25 Sky 75.60. The next few weeks will have all corps at full throttle. These three corps are so close to each other it will make for a real good weekend in Rochester. Now throw in C2, CV and The Kids.
